Financial Aid for Straighterline, Study.com, and Coding Boot Camps!
#1
I heard this story on NPR while driving home and had to look it up. The federal government is experimenting with offering financial aid through eight chosen colleges for non-traditional courses offered by for-profit companies. Thomas Edison State University is partnering with Study.com, University of Texas at Austin is partnering with a coding boot camp, Northeastern University is partnering with General Electric, and the Dallas County Community College System is partnering with Straighterline.

Wilmington University is partnered with a coding boot camp.

Zip Code Wilmington receives national recognition - Technical.ly Delaware

Other partnerships include Colorado State University Global Campus and Guild Education, Marylhurst University and a coding boot camp, and Empire State College and a coding boot camp.

According to NPR, only $17 million is currently being spent on the pilot program.

Thanks for this. I knew it was coming sooner or later as those "ACE Credit Courses" requires a "landing" institution for it to be useful.
They're smart in partnering with colleges/universities. I can see the same thing with ALEKS/Shmoop and Saylor courses in the future.
I hope there are more affordable options such as the ones mentioned, thank goodness for competition for student enrollment!

They have 18 business courses, that's a good chunk.

JSD - yes I will be taking a few of them very shortly. Once I knock out the SL Courses. Problem is I am getting to the nitty griddy of my AOS so I would need certain courses which they seem to have a lot of management courses but not many financial or marketing.

I am on the phone with tesc. Admissions doesn't seem to know what is going on with the program nor does Financial Aid.. will send out emails shortly

I don't think the program has rolled out yet. I'd have to reread the article, but your answer should be in the Department of Education link.
