I am having trouble with the flashcard format and would like advice on what other books or study guides to use. Also, is there another site for a practice exam?
I am struggling with the cards and I like to read some material. ANy advice will help. This is my first time using this site and I need to take 7 Dantes and do not like the flashcard approach. Most of my courses are in business such as Organizational Behavior, Prin of Finance, Business in Society, Human Resource Man, Sec Anal & Portfolio, etc. Thanks

I have not used the flashcards yet I was going to join later. What don't you like about the flashcard? I can not afford to join if I can't use them.

Magedo, how do you study/learn? I just joined InstaCert, and my preliminary observations are that there is a LOT (too much?) exam-specific feedback. Some might find it comforting, some might find it helpful, some might find it overwhelming, some might find going through them ...sluggish. As to the flashcards, I think that there are at least three approaches to them. Memorize the questions, answers, and explations, and then test. Research the terms and concepts in the cards, and then test. Study other materials, and use the cards as a preliminary test, and then test. As I said, I'm new to InstaCert. These are my initial impressions. I used a promotion code, and got one month membership for around $15. You might want to see if it works for you. I suspect that I'll cancel the membership when it ends, but join again after my vacation with the six month membership.

Hello Elaine and Welcome! eeya:
What type of trouble are you having?[/COLOR] Well, you have to provide and answer and it is generally wrong, then there is 800 flashcards for some courses. I find it difficult to get thru and would rather have a study guide. I am still working with the cards, but find it overwhelming.

Elaine,
I know of another member who just clicks to get the answers and then copies and pastes each 'card' to a word doc and uses it for a study guide when done.
It takes a little time, but provides good material for studying.
Perhaps that will work for you?

I just read the question form an answer in my head then just click next.
I did get frustrated with wrong spelling and similar answers. I don't cut and paste all of the cards but if one has a new concept I will cut and paste it to a word document for further exploration. I also go to the specific exam feedback and use some of the better ones to make a word document then look up and learn the areas suggested.
If you are sure you can't use the flashcards try a REA book they are the most recommended. Also try the free Peterson test they are good resources too.
Good luck with your studying and test.

I think the best way to use the flash cards is just to click through and read them without trying to type an answer. I find that if I work on guessing and get the wrong answer I am simple re-enforcing the wrong information. It is much better for me to only look at correct information when I study. So far one run through of the flash cards has proved sufficient for me to pass the tests.
