I’m finishing up a friend’s plan for UMPI’s BA Business Admin in Management & Leadership and I’m noticing that the 5 Global Consciousness & Intercultural Awareness Learning 5A requirement can be filled by Sophia courses Approaches to Studying Religion (3 papers/projects) or Intro to Sociology (2 papers/projects). I took these in 2020 and neither had papers so I’m wondering if there are any less painful alternatives elsewhere that will fill that spot. Has anyone recently taken these and have a review of how involved the papers were? I took Straighterline’s Cultural Anthropology class which I guess wasn’t too bad so I guess that’s an option. I’d prefer to not have him do study for this one since I already have him down for two classes from there (human resource management and Bio with lab).
I’m also wondering if UMPI is still accepting Business 106 Human Resource Management to fill BUS 321? I had it transferred as that but I thought I read somewhere that they weren’t giving upper level credit for that anymore and you’d have to now take Business 306 Strategic Human Resource Management from SDC.

Business 106 does not fill BUS321. You have to take Business 306. Here's how Study.com transfers to UMPI:
https://study.com/college/school/umpi.html
StraighterLine and Study.com have courses that fill 5A. But they're probably just as much work or more than Sophia if they have assignments.
Spanish and American Government can come from InstantCert if you need those filled.

Thanks! I’m having him take Spanish and American Gov from InstantCert.
I graduated from UMPI last year. I was able to have BUS 106 from Study come in as BUS 321 so that’s a bummer but I guess I lucked out.

There's been a lot of changes in the last year. Many ACE courses were reevaluated.

ModernStates/CLEP for Sociology (free) or Saylor (free course, $5 exam)
General Anthropology or Introduction to World Religions DSST exam
REL 101: Intro to World Religions, SOC 101: Intro to Sociology, GEO 101: Human & Cultural Geography - Study.com ($199/mo)
I would do Study.com's BIO 101L: Intro to Biology w/Lab instead of SL, it's cheaper, and the lab is virtual instead of a kit you have to buy and have mailed to your house.
So, if you're going to do that, then take Bio w/Lab and one other course at Study.com (you're paying $199/mo and it includes 2 courses, and then you pay $69 for the virtual lab).

Just my two cents from someone who is currently enrolled in the same degree program.
Instead of IC, take AG at UMPI. It can be done in one afternoon and the final is an opinionated paper regarding something you strongly believe in ( turn on CNN for one afternoon and he'll have plenty of ideas) AG at IC will take a week and is a proctored exam.
Instead of IC Spanish, that has you listening, reading and writing, take the Spanish final on ACTFL. You choose if you want reading, speaking or listening. It's only one to choose from. Take the free course at Modern States and then sign up at ACTFL.

American Government for me was an incredibly easy A+ at UMPI. I finished it in 3 days. The course content. Rough draft. Rough draft returned with notes. Final version submitted and graded. All in 3 days. It was like a 3 page paper. I had to compare 2 government issues that were interesting to me.

I agree with the others; American Government at UMPI was very quick and easy for me. I enjoyed the class and finished in 2 days.
