Formulating my plan

JobaJoba Wrote:Okay, I'll look into TESU instead. Thanks for the tip. It doesn't have a awful reputation I need to know about or anything (compared to Excelsior) at least right?

COSC, Excelsior and TESU are great schools. They're the big 3, either one you choose is fine.
Excelsior was my very first choice as well, when they were the cheapest many moons ago.
COSC was my first choice this year around, but decided on TESU as it's a University now.

Anyways, it wont really matter which one you go for, it's a stepping stone to the next level...
For TESU, you can transfer in up to 117 credits, the only one you can't is the capstone.
Furthermore, you can only transfer up to 90 credits from one provider.

swalke321 Wrote:The 80 credit limit is in semester hours, your 93 quarter hours would be converted to semester hours and as long as it is under the 80 semester hours it would be okay. The 80 semester hour limit only applies to transfer credit from CC. It does not apply to other transfer credit sources. For 4 year colleges it is 120 semester hours and for ACE/NCCRS recommended sources it is 90 semester hours.

Okay that makes sense. Thanks. Applying now.

I've seen a lot of people talk about this capstone, can someone explain what that is? Is it something I can test out of through TESU? I didn't see anything about it in that spreadsheet.

The capstone for the BSBA is a class on strategic management. TESU is the only school in the big 3 which has a test for a capstone. So if you go there you can test out, otherwise it'll be a required class at Excelsior or COSC.

For liberal arts and other majors, you must take the capstone at TESU.

df listed it as Strategic Management (BUS-421) in your spreadsheet. TECEP is a TESU test.
Currently studying for: Still deciding.

2015 - Thomas Edison State College - BSBA Marketing & CIS

Awesome, thanks for the clarification.

Okay, I have a couple more questions as I am ironing this out:

- I am reading more about Study.com and it is 200 bucks a month to have a college credit level account? Is that factored in to the cost in the spreadsheet and if not how do you recommend handling that (IE pay for one month and cram all those into 30 days?)

- The TESU Residency Waiver Fee (or the quick degree tax as it seems) is a huge chunk of the cost. Are the other two schools cheaper in this area?

Study.com allows two tests for 200. Df listed each class as a cost of 100. No benefit in cramming.

The other schools are more expensive. $2000 is a large chunk percentage wise but its still extremely cheap comparitively.

Oh, I see. So that's the total cost. I thought that meant each test was a hundred and you had to may the monthly fee too.

So you can only take 2 tests a month? 9-12 tests on Study.com would make that at least a 5 month timeline (which is obviously very good comparatively, just want to make sure I am not missing anything).

Is Schmoop just a $85 dollar flat rate pay scale?

Yes, only 2 a month (for college credit) through Study.com. Some people here have said that you can sign up for 2 accounts and take 4 a month, but I don't know about their policies on that.

Shmoop is also a monthly fee, for as many courses as you can do.
