Global Popular Culture Since 1945, and African American History
#1
Hi all,
I am considering getting my BA in History from Excelsior, but I am trying to find a good substitute for the World Culture since 1945 and African American History requirements, since Excelsior can be rather pricey (https://www.excelsior.edu/program/bachel...ry-degree/ see for degree requirements). Any tips on possible substitutes? or did you end up taking the courses offered through excelsior?
Thank you!

I'm sure you've got good reasons for choosing Excelsior but have you considered TESU? I think it might be easier to get a history degree from TESU with alternate credit than it would be to get it from EC.

Thanks for the tip. I decided on EC a long time ago... but it looks like TESU is actually a better option now. Thank you Smile

FHSU has a decent history department. No it's not as inexpensive as SDC, but there's more options available. If I remember correctly, their tuition is about $220 per credit. It's also a regionally accredited 4 year university so that may make a difference when it comes to the number of acceptable transfer credits at certain schools.

One nice thing at EC is that if you take 13cr (cornerstone, capstone, info lit + 2 additional courses), your degree ends up being only $550 more than if you'd just taken 7cr (cornerstone, capstone & info lit). Yes, $550 total.

So take those courses at EC, and you'll be fine. Still cheaper than TESU.
