Yipee, I just got an email from admissions welcoming to TESC and stating that I have been accepted. I quickly logged in to establish my account at the Online Students Services. I could not access MyEdison still.
I understand my next step will be to enroll but I want to understand this very clearly. There have been threads pointing out that one can use the TECEP to fulfil residency requirements of 24 CR. If I were to use the TECEPS for residency, will I pay the International Students Enrolment fee of $3,062.00 before taking TECEPS for the residencies? Reason I feel a little bit confused was that in Sanatone's thread: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior...kdown-big.html it seems there is no mention of enrollment fee.
Quote:If it is true that you can fulfill the residency requirements with TECEPs at $36 per credit hour under the new Per Credit Hour Tuition Plan, TESC will be the cheapest of the Big 3. Here is the breakdown.
TESC
With Capstone
$476 (for capstone) X 3 = $1428
$36 (TECEP) X 21 (for a total of 24 credit hours for residency) = $756
$1428 + $756 = $2184
Without Capstone
$36 X 24 = $864
Can someone please enlighten me on this? Thank you in advance.

There is no enrollment fee. They weren't really good at explaining to me how one would continue to be viewed as an active student. I was told that as long as you're signed up for a course or TECEP, you're treated like any other student. The $3,062 is for the Enrolled Options Plan which has no residency requirement.

Thank you for the clarification. I will have to write to admissions to ask how I can enroll then since the enrollment form (link) does not make provision for TECEPS but the ENROLLED and PAY PER CREDIT? options. There ought to be a way to "enroll" (for the residency option) without paying the enrollment fee then...

This is a part of the response I got from TESC on this issue. I guess what I need to do is determine (when I get an evaluation results) whether I need up to 24 credits, contact an advisor and register for TECEPs under the Per Credit Tuition. This way, I fulfill the residency without paying that whooping sum for enrollment.
Quote:The Per Credit Tuition Plan enables students to register and pay for course tuition on a per credit basis directly after they apply and are accepted into a degree program.
Per Credit Tuition Plan 2013-14
Course Tuition (per credit attempted)
New Jersey Residents: $395.00 per credit
Out-of-state residents: $476.00 per credit
NOTE: Students who select the Per Credit Tuition Plan with the intention of graduating from Thomas Edison State College have academic residency requirements of 12 credits for an associate degree and 24 credits for a bachelor’s degree. Residency requirements are met by earning credits via Thomas Edison State College Online (OL), Guided Study (GS) ore-Pack (EP) courses, TECEP exams (TE) or Portfolio Assessment (PA).
You are correct, if TECEP exams fulfill your degree requirements, you may register for TECEPs to fulfill your residency requirements.
However, we will require that your application has been accepted and your evaluation is complete and that you register for a course or TECEP through the Per Credit Tuition Plan prior to being considered an enrolled student. Once you are an enrolled student your credits will be counted toward your residency requirements.

I think you can sign up for TECEPs in Online Student Services without being enrolled. I'm considered "inactive," and it looks like I can register for a TECEP or any course.

That will be super if I am able to do so. I will await the completion of my evaluation. I checked on my evaluation on Online Student Services but NOTHING has been applied. I guess it takes some days for the evaluation to show??

After acceptance, the evaluation can take 6-8 weeks. I've also heard 20-something business days.

Holy Moses! I had thought the 6 to 8 weeks were for acceptance and evaluation combined. I can't complain because I knew about the delay I am likely to experience with my TESC application before jumping on queue. Thank you, Sanatone. You have been one of those whose contributions on this forum motivated me to keep moving on in my journey and stubbornly sticking with TESC even with the so many complaints I have read about...

Agreed, Sanantone's posts have been very helpful for me as well!
OP, I am going to be in the same predictament as you I believe. I am planning to go the Per Credit option, but need to figure out the enrollment method, as well as the credit issue. My transcripts haven't been sent over yet, but I'm not sure that I'll even need 24 credits after the evaluation except to fill the residency requirement. I am also planning to mostly fill that via TECEPs though. If you figure out how the enrollment method for this works, please post what you find.
