HELP - TESC transcript eval received (attached) - what now?
#1
HELP! - My hubby is working on completing his degree and we just received his transcript eval (LINK below) but we are trying to make sense of best plan forward.

He was originally thinking BSBA General Management & would still be interested in that but I don't know what the quickest way is going to be for him to finish. He's open to changing majors too if that would be quickest (he has 12 semester hours that aren't being applied per the transcript eval).

He has already finished Saylor.org 'Business Law' and is almost through with StraighterLine Macroeconomics but that class has taken a lot longer than he hoped. At this rate it seems like it will take him several years to complete (full time job + 2yr old & 5 month old at home). Are we going about this the wrong way? I've read about just studying instacert flashcards & being able to test out of things - should we be doing that vs traditional chapter tests/read the text/etc from Straighterline. He just found out there's a raise available to him at work when he finishes his degree so at this point we just want the thing DONE!

Thanks so much for all of your help!!!! I'm (attempting to) attaching links to his transcript eval exactly as it came from TESC as well as my version of a degree plan for BSBA General Management to help for anyone that can provide some options. (one other note - he also has FINRA certifications for financial analysis, series 6 I think as well as a real estate license in Ohio)

I would recommend looking at more CLEP/DSST options. For instance the principles of management and marketing CLEPs are both super easy. I finished them both within a couple weeks. I don't have children, though so it may take him a bit longer, but still it shouldn't take that long. I'd go through and look at other credit by exams too. Is he good enough with computers he could pass the intro to computing CLEP? Maybe if he knocks out a few of these easier ones it won't seem so overwhelming, but he does still have a lot of credits to do and some of those courses are difficult and will take some time (at least IMO they are...the finance and accounting courses, I mean).

Just FYI his name is still on a sheet or two there, in case you missed it and didn't want it on there.

Can I ask where your husband took some of his classes (like the English and Sociology)? I never realized some colleges had 2 credit classes in those subjects.

He took the classes at a school that was on quarters vs semesters which is why they transferred in like that. Bummer.

I was hoping some more folks would have tips/advice for him. Any thoughts?

Darn that stinks :/

There are definitely some tests your husband can use for the degree (like CLEP College Composition for ENC-102, CLEP for College Algebra, etc). I hear Straighterline's Economics classes take a long time simply because of all the tests they require so other SL classes might not take as long (BUS106 which satisfies TESC's "Responsible Ethical Leadership" req has 6 total if I remember correctly so he can read the chapters, take the tests, save test questions to review later, and then knock the final out of the ballpark).

I recommend you look at the degree plans on the forum's Wiki. There's one for the BSBA in General Management (so you can see how someone else did it and get ideas) and also some other ones that might be more flexible when it comes to obtaining credit.

General Management

Social Science

Note: I believe these were completed before TESC changed a few things (like a capstone, GE, etc). Double-check things with the TESC website.
