CLEPer1 Wrote:CLEPS should work for my school but dont think some or all ACE will.... So first of all, take a CLEP. Try your best and use IC and all of the suggestions on the board. If you pass, and find that this way of learning works well, you'll want to do more. If you don't pass, what did you lose? 100 bucks and a few hours' studying time. So, if after taking a CLEP if you decide that you want to do more than what your school will accept, can you switch to TESC? How many credits do you have right now? You may find it cheaper and easier to switch schools if you like testing. All of the big 3 are REALLY good about accepting credit from other schools, so you probably wouldn't lose anything that you've already learned. Anyway... that's a big suggestion so as mentioned previously, don't take a huge step. Don't commit to anything right now until you take that first test and decide whether you even want to take more.

It had been too long when I started over and the first thing I did was clep the six hour English. I missed it by one point. I then took English 1 through Straighterline and Algebra through Straighterline (total cost one month $100.00). I applied to Straighterline partner college for $30.00 FS and they transcribed my classes as regular courses through their college and thus, I received six hours. It was relatively painless and helped me brush up on my English for other classes. My community college allowed me to take an exam for English II (which I passed) and then I had nine hours. Total cost for all three courses less than $200.00.
