1. Where can I take the original version of the HTYH DSST in NYC? I have read that there are different versions of the test and the latter one is much harder and full of info that isnt on the IC cards etc. Does anyone know where to find the original version in NYC?
2. I studied InstaCert and I don't think its enough because I failed the DSST practice test. Peterson's doesn't have a practice test, but I really need to pass this. i don't wanna have to wait 6 months to take it again. Where can I get a practice test?
I sat for 2 DSST exams today ... HTYH = 419 (B) & Intro to Business = 423 (B).
I was previously looking for a study guide for HTYH to use in conjuntion with the IC flashcards but could not find one in time. I did not use the IC flashcards but I did take the feedback/ list provided from other IC members (TY!!!) and located all the answers, took the Peterson's practice test twice- (1st 65/100 no study & 2nd 76/100 with study) - reviewed missed answers and copied all into a word doc (I am including here for any one needing it) to create my own guide. This was done over a period of 2 days (actual time invested = about 4 hours). Many of the questions on the practice tests are on the real test - very consistant - and about 90% + of the material included in the attached guide is covered on the exam as well. Based on my practice scores, I should have done better but I was a little out of sorts when I sat for the exam having prepared for 2 at once; so I assume this may have affected my performance. NONETHELESS - it's done = 3 credits earned! Happy about THAT ~
NOTE: If you are active/retired military OR a former dependant of military (ie. eligible citizen), you have access to the DSST practice tests (10 in total) for free! DANTES Prep
If there is no military affiliation, you can get to the Peterson site through this link INSPIRE Information >> Edu& Testing on left side of page >>> follow path to DSST. There are maybe 5 practice tests there? Addl online test can be purchased directly from Petersons.
Hope this helps! Thank you again to all the previous IC members who took the time to post your feedback as this was VERY helpful!
Best wishes!

Is there any way to access the Peterson's dod mwr as a civilian? I am willing to pay for the practice tests, but can't find them anywhere aside from the DOD MWR.
Hmmmm, I live right outside of NYC in bergen county NJ and I take all of my DSST's an hour away at brookdale community college. They run an awesome appointment-free test center.
BMCC, although pricey at $40 a CLEP, is where it's at for CLEPing as far as I am concerned. It is just steps away from the bowling green subway stop (4,5)
