If we can accurately predict which CC courses are transcribed as UL at TESC we should start and pin a list. Your gonna laugh Sanantone....let's use NMJC as the model as that's a place nearly anyone can use to get sub $100/credit courses....we can start a trend of folks transferring between the two.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

You can tell by comparing the CC courses to TESC courses and evaluated courses in the PLA database. Of course, it's always best to get courses pre-approved whether they are CC courses or independent study courses. If TESC accepts a CC course and titles it the same as an UL course in the PLA database, there is a 100% guarantee the CC course will also be UL unless TESC changes its policy. I actually used several CC courses as UL credit in the major for my degree. Since I kept getting an advisor who wouldn't help me at the time, I just took the chance and took courses I thought would be upper level based on what TESC offered. She's no longer there. Thank goodness.

Fafsa filed. Thank You rebel for the hand holding. I am going to start studying for the Literature clep as suggested. Excelsior is going to have wait because $75 isn't doable at this time.
rebel100 Wrote:Everything Cook said, and It sounds worthwhile to spend $75 to apply at Excelsior and see how they evaluate your credit, Apply at COSC at the same time and see where you land there to.
You don't need to hoard Math credit...you need 3 hours at the college level (college Algebra or above) at COSC and I believe 6 hours st TESC or EC....at any rate not more than 6 credits in Math, I think your gonna have plenty of LL credit so don't spin your wheels on stuff you don't need.
Let me break it down a little better:
Today...go to fafsa.gov and apply. You may not want to take classes but a full PELL grant which you might qualify for could mean a free degree for you...go apply.
Pick a couple of LL gen eds to pursue and get started. ALEKS is great...go get College Algebra done.
Go to freeclepprep.com and read through the Analyzing and Interpreting literature CLEP...study that for a few days and go take it.
Once you have those three things done we can look at the rest....but there is no need to wait....go get started, action is called for.

OK, we know where you stand...I believe you can pull this off for less than $5K and that's money spent over time...the Gen Eds are where I would start, get those classes finished and you can apply at COSC and basically earn an AS degree right away (I think). Make a plan for those courses. A&I Lit, Math, etc...if you work hard I believe you can knock those exams out by May and be able to enroll in the cornerstone for the summer term. We will have to figure out the UL issue along the way....figure out those LL Gen Eds and we can then discuss the rest.
Joining here to access the flashcards and more importantly the specific exam feedback will go long way towards making the exams easier to study/prepare for. At $20/month it's money well spent for 2-3 months.
