Help with Comm degree for TESC
#1
Hi everyone

I finally took the plunge and submitted my transcripts to TESC. The only one that did not go through was a community college transcript from a few years ago... it looks like I owe them some $ and need to take care of that before they will send!

I apologize in advance - if the info I am looking for is readily available. This whole process is really overwhelming.

My goal is to get a BA in Comm from TESC. I would like to accomplish this in the quickest amount of time - keeping in mind that I work 60-80 hours a week currently.

The only two classes not listed are from a local community college
ENG 001A Written Communications - I got an A
HIST 017A History of the United State I got a B

This is my assessment:

Was your written communications course college-level or remedial? If it is college-level, it'll be a LL course. I don't know if it will be 200-level or 100-level. History of the United States will end up in gen ed or free electives. Here are the general education options.

This is a very rough plan for a communications degree. Equivalencies should be verified with TESC because I made educated guesses on most of them.

My English and History are both college level! I had actually bookmarked your plan. My only question is if the Sophia classes are accepted at TESC?

TESC accepts anything that is ACE-approved, NCCRS-approved, or from a regionally accredited college as long as it's not vocational credit. You just have to check the ACE National Guide and NCCRS website to make sure the courses are currently approved. Figuring out the equivalencies is the tricky part. I forgot to warn you that most advisors at TESC will tell you that they cannot plan any ACE or NCCRS courses (except for CLEP and DSST), especially if they have not been evaluated before. They won't evaluate them until after you've taken them.
