History BA versus Liberal Studies BA
#11
Quote:At the Undergrad level I don't think a History major is going to wow a prospective employer any more than a Liberal arts major.

My reasoning behind selecting History over Liberal Arts isn't so much that my employer will be wowed by my selection of major but more so that my employer will be familiar with what it is. When I think of liberal arts as a major it makes me think of the AA you get at community college and use to transfer into a 4 undergrad year program. You know, less explaining.

I don't think AA so much when I hear a Liberal Arts major. I think of all the highly ranked Liberal Arts colleges throughout the United States such as Williams, Amherst, Middlebury, Pomona, etc. Sure, I've been questioned about my major but so do all those other people who are Psych majors and Sociology majors who apply in different industries. I could've went the Psych route and graduate the same time since most of my earlier classes were in Psych but I knew I wasn't going into that field, therefore I'd rather be a Liberal Arts major. Ultimately, if you and I were to apply for most jobs it'll come down to who has a better interview, our majors wouldn't give us an edge either way. With that said, a BA in anything is still better than a HS diploma or an AA, so congrats either way you choose.

LOL point taken. I guess we all have our reasons for what major we chose, and I agree with you that what is important is having a BA or BS instead of didilly poo.
