Hitting The Do Not Report Score Key??
#1
If Iam Looking Back At My Just Completed Clep Test And Am About To Hit The Report Or Do Not Report Score Button, The Overall Implications Of Hitting The Do Not Report Score Means :

A. I Just Spent $70.00 And Said Goodbye To It
B. My Score Will Not Be Reorted To My College
C. I Can Retake This Test Without Waiting 6 Months
D. All Of The Above Are True

So What Is The Correct Answer. I Have Never Hit That Button After Completing A Clep Test And I Really Do Not Know Its' True Pluses Or Minuses And I May Not Even Know How To Spell The Plural Form Of Plus Or Minus!! Insight On The Do Not Report Button ??

Thanks..ron

I believe ... B

I have another strange CLEP question to add your thread. I took a CLEP a few weeks ago, the PC froze during the test. After a reboot I was able to take the entire test just fine, and got my score report. I passed... waited a few weeks, Excelsior still didn't have the score so I called CLEP. They don't have the score either! They said to fax in the printed report and that they would look into it.. I'll be faxing it in tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this? I figure I passed once, I could pass again, by why should I have to? Has this happened to anyone else out there?

Well.. I guess it's A and B.

I believe what you are talking about would be under the Canceling Scores section of the below document.

Ron,

Only A and B are correct.

At the point where you have already taken the test, you really have NOTHING to lose by 'flipping the coin' and hitting the final "Report Score" button. You know that sometimes your final score ends up being higher than you expected in the few moments prior to clicking the final button. But if you hit "Do Not Report", you will never know...it is basically the equivalent of INTENTIONALLY FAILING YOURSELF (even if you actually passed the exam).

If you click "Report Score":

A) You will know for sure whether you failed or passed.
B) You may well have earned your 6 credits.
C) You may not have wasted your $70.00 fees.
D) You can have Excelsior ignore the score if you failed.
E) You can take the exam again in 6 months if you failed.
F) You won't need to take the exam again if you passed.

If you click "Do Not Report":

A) You will DEFINITELY fail (even if you actually passed).
B) You will DEFINITELY lose your $70.00 (even if you actually passed).
C) You will DEFINITELY have to wait 6 months (even if you actually passed).
D) You will NEVER know whether you actually passed or not.

Take the test, do the best that you can...then hit "Report Score".

That's my advice!

Personally, I never really understood the whole thing about allowing you to back out - simply because you used a computer to take the exam. When you take a paper exam, it's kinda a non-issue, it's not even brought up. I mean, I'm sure you could rip up your answer sheet, but that seems a little extreme...

Anyway, if you choose not to score, you're not listed as failing per se but you are subject to the same retake policy as if you had failed. You'll be listed as a "DNS" (do not score) which is a different classification than failing.
The reason you can't retake is so that you can't brain-stuff to later brain-dump the information (possibly for profit as is widely done in the IT field) and because (as those of you who have take psych/OB know) you're likely to do better simply because of repeated exposure and that skews the equating.

So, yeah, DEAL. Smile You did the work, see the results. Your college won't even post it to your transcript if you did fail - so it won't bring down your GPA (if scored and not pass/fail). At best your out cash and time if you fail. But your wiser for the experience. Big Grin

I recently took Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, and chose not to get my score, because I thought that would allow me to retake the test before six months had passed. I found out within an hour that I would still have to wait the full six months, so I called CLEP and told them I'd made a wrong decision and asked them to send my score report to me, and to Excelsior where I'm enrolled. They instructed me to fax this request to them, and to the test center. They were clearly used to having this happen, and it seemed as though it was not a big deal to them - in fact, they were really great about it. And after all that, it turned out that the score I received was a 70.
