Horrible Tor College Credits experiene
#1
UPDATE: I'm happy to say that Tor has made this right. They were not hesitant to offer options and accommodate! We're setting up a in-person proctor so I can still take the exam. I won't be able to do it online, but I still get to do it, and that's very reasonable. I'm very pleased with Tor's support!

--- original post below ---

In March I contacted Tor College Credits/Coopersmith to take the History and Systems of Pysch exam. They told me what the steps were and how everything goes, and it all sounded good.

I went through the course slowly, as I was doing another TESU course at the time, and didn't really get into gear until recently. I finished up the book and study guide work this week, and have the exam scheduled through ProctorU for Sunday.

Then I just got this email:

Quote:From: "TCC exams" <exams@torcollegecredits.com>
Date: Jun 2, 2016 8:35 AM
Subject: PSY 202

Dear [jsd],

I see your have scheduled to take PSY 202. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this exam is being reviewed and will not be available in the near future. Please check back in for updates, and let us know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
Jeff M.

They have not replied to my email yet about a possible exception since I've been doing this course since March and there was no indication on their website until this morning that their test was unavailable. They're not taking phone calls either, of course.

I checked today and ALL of their Psych exams are showing unavailable. This is so frustrating. All of that studying for naught.

Anyone know of any alternatives for these credits? I think I'm going to be stuck taking it at TESU, and this pushes my grad date waaaay back, even though I just have the capstone that i start on Monday and this stupid history course. I think my degree won't get conferred until like March now Sad

Any other options you all can think of? Now I'm out the cost of the book and the $25 ProctorU fee.

Yeah, unfortunately not just any Psych course will work, it needs to satisfy the History and Systems of Psych requirement.

Obviously, pursue all avenues with TCC first, but here's an independent study from our friends in Idaho for $510:

Oh, this is helpful! I'm not familiar with this IS courses. I'll have to check price and all that and see if this might be the way to go.

Looks like $510 ($160/ credit + $30 fee per course). Not sure about books though.
They do not charge an out of state fee at least.
