Do you have to pay a separate fee and request a separate transcript for every school? For example if you take a few courses through TEEX and NFA, do you have to request separate transcripts and pay the fee again for both schools or can all the credits and courses go on one transcript if you request everything at the same time?

You are only charged when a transcript is ordered.
You set up your ACE account first (free of charge). When asked for a student ID use your social security number. As you complete your courses you add them to your ACE transcript (no charge). Once you've completed all, or at timed intervals, you order a transcript to be sent to your school.
When I last used the service, the first transcript costs $40. Each order after is $15. Confirm pricing, there may have been changes.
You have the option of ordering the transcript in paper or electronic format. Depends on your preference and if your school accepts the electronic format. Transcripts sent via email are a blessing during the holiday season.

I just tried setting up my ACE account with my SS#. Says it doesn't recognize it and to contact my institution. Any suggestions?

Yes, wait until tomorrow during business hours. (I'm assuming you did not use dashes and only entered the nine numbers.) The system is sometimes hinky over the weekend.

When my student set-up his ACE account last year, he had to pay $40 up front for the registration but received an immediate credit for his first transcript. After getting his ALEKS course recognized by ACE, he ordered the ACE transcript for TESC but did not quite get the payment by credit sequence right. A transcript was never sent to TESC, and ACE never informed him that it was a payment issue. He lost his free transcript, but since he was continuing to add to his ACE credits, he was only out the $15 for an additional transcript later. To this day, I am not sure how to preserve your "free" transcript if you are not requesting one till a much later date.

Hopefully someone else who has used the service recently will comment on this. I don't think they would charge for a transcript prior to use. By what you've said it seems the person was given a deadline to order a transcript or forfeit payment. Something about this scenario seems a bit off. Maybe there was an error made when setting up the account and ACE issued a time restricted credit?
Can recent users of the service please weigh in to offer guidance?
Thanks!

I registered for ACE 2 weeks ago. I did not have to pay anything upfront, and have had numerous classes from 3 sources added since then. However, I just started a transfer request to see the cost and this is what my review cart looks like:
Total: $15.00
Registration Fee: $40.00
1st Transcript (No Charge): -$15.00
Grand Total: $40.00

Thanks for the confirmation! That's exactly how it was set up when I used their services (2009-2011).

Same here. I created the account in the early half of last year and only requested a transcript (and paid the $40.00) last month. The transcript has been received by TESC.
