How have you used Study.com?
#1
I just recently signed up for the SDC College Accelerator plan which allows you to study a course then test from home. This seems like a good way for me to tackle the more difficult courses. However, at $199/mo. it is slightly more expensive than their $59/mo plan and taking tests at a testing center. While cost is always a concern,  I am trying to find the fastest path to a Bachelors degree and I'm looking for some insight as to how others are doing/have done with SDC or other study aides.

For those of you that have used SDC, which method worked best for you and why. Also, if there are other avenues I should be exploring, please enlighten me.  Thanks in advance for your response.

The $59/mo plan does not include tests (testing center or otherwise). That plan is for studying, but not for credit. The $199/mo plan can get you college credit.

What worked best for me was crunch through the Quizzes (clicking the links to watch the related video if I didn't know the answer) and then knocking out the exams immediately after.

Keep in mind the $200/month includes 2 exams a month. With courses typically being 3cr each, that's less than $34 a credit, which is an insanely good deal.

There are cheaper options like Saylor.org, OnlineDegree.com, Modern States, but they offer less options than SDC (and in the case of OnlineDegree are generally less transferable because it's NCCRS and not ACE, in the case of Saylor some courses have had a lot of complaints -- On the other hand Modern States gets you free CLEP tests and proctoring, plus they're generally more transferable than general ACE options)

The big difference is you need to better know the material for CLEP because the score is all based on the exam, with SDC, the quizzes make up so much of the scare that you can do pretty poorly on the exam and still pass.

I just received the proctor reimbursement from Modern States for the two CLEPs I took back in October-ish.

If you can hussle with them you can knock out more exams in a month , they charge a 70 dollar fee per exam after your first 2 that come included. Their material is excellent imo with the videos but there is a ton of info. If you dedicate your weekends to them it can be done.

I think the $200/month plus the cost of 2 courses makes the total somewhere in the $50-$65 a credit range depending on course. Which, as you say, is still an insanely good deal. Thanks for your feedback on other options. I will investigate all but your opinion of these sites is very encouraging. Thanks!

The quiz scores being considered as part of the final score is one of the biggest reasons I am using SDC. I just completed study of my first course and scored 100% on all but a couple of the quizzes. I am depending on this helping my overall score when I take the final in a few days. Thanks for your input.

I'm not sure if you are asking this, but I was relieved to find you can switch between accelerator and premium ($60) freely. That means start on premium, study and then when ready to test upgrade to Accelerator. Then back down again when you are only studying again.
