How many LL and UL credits are required for a second degree at TESU?
#11
So, does the 24cr still count if the person doesn't have enough credits in the major? I kind of thought that it was just a minimum, and was for someone who maybe already had a lot of credits in that major already, and just needed a few more to get that extra degree.

For example, let's say you have a BALS from another school, and want to get a BSBA as a second degree. You had zero credits in business. You would need a LOT more than 24cr to get the BSBA; you'd need 6cr of the prereqs like College Algebra, Stats, 33cr of the core, 18cr of the AOS, and 3cr of the capstone. The UL requirements would apply as well. That would be 60cr total.

So for a double major in History & English, wouldn't you need all 30cr from the English AOS (15cr of which are UL), all 30cr from History (15cr of which are UL), and then the dual capstone? You can't just get away with only taking 24cr and not fulfill the requirements of the AOS can you?

That's my understanding, you need at least 24 but more if that is what it takes to fulfill the requirements. The OP really needs to apply and get his current transcripts evaluated so that the picture is clearer.

My understanding is that 24 minimum new credits. I have a degree plan mapped out for BA:CS. With the courses I used towards the BSBA:CIS and my AS in CIT, there are only 12 credits I need for the BA:CS. Because I don't have enough room for 24 credits, I would have had to remove completed requirements from the eval. What I don't know if if I could pick and choose which ones, or if that is something the advisors at TESU would determine.

There is only one General Studies Associates Degrees at TESU; it is the Associate in Arts (and there would be no logical reason to add one if your going to graduate with a bachelors, as it is a degree of gen eds).  Now you can add up to two Associates with a specific AOS, often to prove out some sort of "minor" on a resume (or personal interest).  In example: I'm going to have a BSBA, but I work in IT so I've added a ASNSM in Computer Science (at some point going for the MBA-IT to bring it full circle)  - the list of options is here   https://www.tesu.edu/academics/online-degree

You're welcome, just be aware some of those Associates require their own Capstone.

These are the associate degrees at TESU that do not require a Capstone course (& can be tested out) -

Associate in Arts (This is the General Associates)
Associate in Science in Business Administration
ASNSM in Mathematics
ASNSM in Computer Science
ASNSM in Biology (possible test out - needs Bio II w/lab, can get through online CC low cost)
AAS Criminal Justice

Just to summarize, even though I have 18 credits for a second AA left over (18 UL credits in Biology, but no BIO II with lab and hence no ASNSM in Biology) AFTER subtracting the credits for the BA and AA in General Studies, they can't be parcelled into a second AA in General Studies degree? In total I have 157 credits...

I don't think you can have two AA degrees in General Studies. Not sure why you'd want to anyway. If you're at 157 credits you have more than enough for an AA and two bachelor's degrees depending on how the courses line up. The first AA can 100% overlap with the first BA so you only need 120 credits for what you already plan. Those 37 extra credits are open for whatever. You basically need 12 additional credits for a second AA degree or 24+ additional credits in the core/AOS for a second bachelor's degree (less 9cr overlap if they are just two different AOS under the same basic degree).

If it were me, I'd either aim for the second bachelor's or find some undergrad certificates that match those extra 37 credits. AA degrees are pretty much useless/ignored once you have a bachelor's degree unless you're trying to use the AA to represent some kind of focus or minor or something. Two AA's of the same degree wouldn't really do that. (edit: Looks like allvia said something similar above.)

That's my $0.02 anyway.
