How many upper division hours for Excelsior Human Resources?
#1
Hi,
I am trying to find out how many upper division hours must you complete to satisfy all the degree requirements? I am trying to plan out a degree plan for my wife. I have come to the conclusion that its only 12 from what I have read which seems quite low. If I am wrong please let me know.

Upper Division Requirements in Major
9 hours

Upper Division Requirements outside Major
3 hours

Also does Operations Management need to be Upper Division? My old community college offers this course at the lower division level.

Thanks for any assistance.

Also please let me know more about Penn Foster College she plans on starting there for first for some courses that she doesn't feel comfortable testing out of.

You read it correctly. It is only 12 upper level Advanced Business credits and at least 9 of those have to be in your major. Operations Management does not have to be upper level but can be.

Have you talked to an adviser on this? I am in the same boat. When I talk to admissions at Excelsior, they don't seem to know. I don't have the money yet to enroll (I'm still just taking the exams).

I'm wondering if anyone has spoken to an adviser yet.

I have taken Excelsiors HRM, & Org Behavior. I am registered to take Excelsiors Labor Relations & TECEP Industrial Psychology. This would give me 9 upper level and 3 lower level HR credits. Do I need 3 more??? Where do I get them?? Penn Foster??

Any help clearing this up for me would be greatly appreciated.

Below are the statements in the catalog that seem confusing to me.

Specific information about Human resource degree on page 35 in the business catalog says,

"15 credits are required in this concentration area. At least 9 must be advanced level."

Chart 4 on page 39, which is a " Basic pattern for bachelor of science degrees", which covers multiple degrees contradicts this when it says,

"Must complete 15 credits in the concentration area of which 9 must be of advanced level."

Below that it says,

"Advanced-level Business Credit
Must complete a minimum of 12 credits at the advanced level of which 9 must be in the concentration. The remaining 3 credits may be earned in any approved area of business."

Thanks,
Eric

You have to take 15 APPLIED PROFESSIONAL credits for ANY business degree. 12 of those 15 have to be advanced or upper level. If you choose a concentration and don't do just General Business 9 of those 12 advanced/upper level credits have to be in your concentration.

If you need 3 more credits there are several EC online courses that are considered UL as well as a few DSSTs. The DSST tests are as follows:
Business Law II
Principles of Finance
Management of Information Systems

And 2 you would have to check with an advisor on as they are UL but I am unsure if they fulfill this requirment but I have heard they have

Money and Banking
Drug and Alcohol Abuse

Hope that helps.
