On that basis, I would think that a History degree could be just as valuable. You learn critical thinking and analysis skills that might not be covered in a simple English degree PLUS you have to be able to interpret and convey your findings to other people.
I agree that a History degree is one that's valuable. Besides all of the critical thinking skills, there's lots of writing, and knowing your history is important. I am encouraging one of my kids to get a history degree.

My daughterS online English 1 syllabus said “you will do far more reading and writing than if you took my traditional course.” Boy she wasn’t kidding. The reading and writing for a 100 level course was amazing. The final was 10 full pages of essay. It was open for 24 hours. It took her like 16 stopping just to eat. Lol.

That sounds a bit harsh, yikes! I like reading and writing but a class like that would probably make me hate them.

No doubt. I think she did. Lol. Talk about a weeder course. She was also her Academic advisor as well and the next year during course scheduling My daughter must’ve said “ain’t” a couple of times. The professor told her that if she said ain’t again she was going to make her take another English course. lol
