I Want A Bachelor's Degree Which Path Is The Fastest For Me??
#11
There's no need, it's better to add the template and addendum to this thread and the more details we have from you, the easier it would be to help you. I've merged the two threads instead of deleting it... Sometimes people ask the same thing over and over, it would be a waste to have multiple threads of the same questions/answers.

Updated Information Requested.

My Goal:
  • Earn a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in something tech related like Computer Science. Originally wanted to do this as fast as possible but now after thinking it over speed doesn't matter but I would like to do this the smart way.
  • Education
    • I hold an Associates Degree in Administration of Justice from a regionally accredited community college called Bakersfield College.

Country
  • I am a Citizen of the United States of America. I am 30 years old and live in California.
  • My Budget
    • I don’t really have a budget. I am willing to take out federal student loans if need be. Naturally though I want the most convenient and inexpensive way to do this so when making your recommendation please keep that in mind.

My Past: I attended WGU in the past. I transferred in my Associates Degree and it fulfilled all the General Education requirements. I withdrew from WGU in good standing so I am pretty sure I can go back. In fact I still have access to my login details and everytime I login to the portal it tells me if I want to readmit.

  • Courses I completed  and passed at WGU. I was enrolled originally for the comp sci program but then switched to the cybersecurity program because I thought it would compliment my associates degree better. I later learned that it was probably a mistake to do that because I have experience in Tech so the cybersecurity program felt more difficult and also I have CompTIA exams.
  • Network and Security - Foundations
  • Scripting and Programming - Foundations
  • Introduction to IT
  • Web Development Foundations
  • Data Management - Foundations
  • Fundamentals of Information Security
  • Business of IT - Applications
  • Data Management - Applications
  • IT Foundations
  • IT Applications
  • Legal Issues in Information Security
  • On my WGU transcript this is what it says.

**************** TRANSCRIPT TOTALS ****************
Earned
Total Institution: 39
Total Transfer/Satisfied: 38
Transfer GPA: 0
Overall: 77
**************** END OF TRANSCRIPT ****************

  • Some questions I have.
    • Given my specific situation, is WGU still the best option to earn a Bachelor’s Degree inexpensively and quickly? Or would another school like TESU be better?
  • So far my plan is this.
    • Step 1 - Go to study.com and complete as many transfer courses as possible for the WGU computer science program.
    • Step 2 - Re-enroll at WGU and if my math is correct I should have 10-11 courses left to complete.
    • Step 3 - Finish those 10-11 courses in 2 terms.
  • Is there any better plan available?
  • Why I think I want to do the computer science program.
    • I have a huge interest in bug bounty hunting. Essentially it’s work that involves finding vulnerabilities within applications like websites. Many people say bug bounty hunting is difficult to make a full time career out of but its kind of what I want to do because working wherever I want for myself is something I want to try. There are also other things I could do with a computer science degree like freelance programming work or just get a regular job. Regardless I think for my goals the computer science program would be the best bet. Of course if you have a better idea I am open to hearing it.
  • Let me know if you need any more information.

BTW I never asked I think but is there a way to clean up some of the replies I made? I think I duplicated one of my replies when I was trying to experiment with the site.

You need to get an evaluation from WGU to see what the CompSci degree looks like at this point (it will look very different than the CyberSec degree). But do NOT enroll until you find out about bringing in the remaining credits you can.

Also apply to TESU, as you can do their BACS degree via alt-credit as well. We need to see what TESU will bring your WGU credit in as.

Report back with each.
