Hi All: Just failed one of my tests and I'm a little scared to take another CLEP/DSST test. Did that ever happened to you??? I'm hoping I can get over that fear and take an exam that's not too difficult to pass. Any suggestions on what I should take next within a few days? One more fail will surely do it for me.
Thanks so much - I know I can depend on you guys for good advice.
Passed so far:
CLEP:
A&I Literature
Freshman English Composition
Sociology
Principle of Management
DSST:
Principle of Supervision - waiting on results

Would you mind letting us know which one you failed? It might be helpful in guiding you.
Search the forum -- I know there is a thread of "easiest exams" out there. Then I would advise doing a CLEP, because the CLEP Official Guide practice exams provide a strong indicator of likelihood to pass the real exam.
Also, it's probably a good time for a little reflection. What went wrong in your preparation plan? What measures did you take to decide you were ready to take the exam? Which areas were your downfall? What lessons can you learn from this, and how can you apply them to future exams?

The DSST Study guide off Petersons.com is free and has organizational behavior in it. Since you have already studied for management and supervision, there is a lot of overlap and you may find it to be a good exam to take next. I got an A with very little study and used mostly the study guide. I did go through IC flashcards once. Looked up JCM on Wikipedia, and theory X & Y to refresh, but otherwise that was it.
I had scheduled two exams on the day that I failed algebra, and went ahead and took the other (Social Sciences and History), which I did well on. I'm glad I did because it was like getting right back on the bike after a fall. I've done very well with every exam I've taken since. I was simply weak in algebra.
Hope that helps.

I'll give you some good advice. DON'T GIVE UP! Please don't let a failure or two "do it for you!" Do you know what WD-40 stands for? Check this out:
In 1953, a chemist called Norm Larsen was trying to produce a substance to prevent rust. He was working for a company called the Rocket Chemical Company, and they were trying to design a product for use in the aerospace industry. The principle on which they were basing their product was to displace water, thereby preventing corrosion. (Rust formation requires moisture AND air.) Eventually, Norm Larsen successfully produced the finished product that he had been striving for, but it had taken him forty attempts! And so was born WD-40........ Water Displacement at the 40th attempt!
There would be no WD-40 and all of our rusted locks and nuts and bolts would still be stuck if Norm Larsen gave up after two failures! Get back on the horse and press on. If that story wasn't enough to inspire you--I'll leave you with this quote:
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge (1872 - 1933)

Tester,
Michael gave some powerful motivation (Thanks Michael - that was absolutely fantastic!!) but I also wanted to point something out to you... while certainly there's some initial depression involved with not achieving a passing grade on an exam (I never use the 'f--l' word), it looks like you've passed 5 of the 7 exams you've taken (and are waiting for the scores from another).... that's HUGE!! Don't even think of giving up!
Good luck
