Awesome! An AA is a college degree. Some will try and say it's not or not equal but they're wrong. An AA means you're still a college graduate and you can state you're a college graduate. I have an AA to, and working on the BA. One can say its the first level of the college diploma level. Most jobs require only an AA or at least an AA. Some people only need an AA/AS degree. So, yes, when people ask or on job applications make you put "college graduate" and the AA and major of your AA. Even if you get a BA, especially if the BA is in another field (like your AA is in Business Admin and your BA Is in Accounting) put down your AA too. Good luck on your journey!

Yep. I got into my job with just an AA working at a local public school district. Not bad pay either considering. But the better pay is always with the BA or MA. The minimum requirement was an AA or AS in any field from a regionally accredited college. When I was hired they actually requested both my actual diploma and sealed official transcripts be sent to HR to verify it. Luckly they didnt care about the major because my AA was in Liberal Arts & Sciences with an Emphasis on Theater Arts.

An AA is college, and it opens a lot of doors. It shows not only are you college material, but you also have graduated from higher education (college) on the associates scale. I think less then 40 percent of Americans in the USA have a college degree of any kind last I read. My cousin has a BA, and she once said the only difference is that I have four years and you have two, but we're both college graduates and succeeded at it.

To the original poster my only person advice is to major or concentrate on an area that's at least semi marketable if you have the ability. A BA is a BA and will open oh so many doors, but a good set concentration will open more. If you're looking for a degree for job purposes. Don't major in Theater Arts, Fine Arts, Museum Arts, or Cinema. Also don't major in Dance if you're over 25 years old unless you plan on teaching it. As someone who originally had Theater Arts as their major with most of my classes being theater or writing focused, I can say this with experience. Kinesiology (Physical Education / P.E.) is another one. Most of the substitute teachers at our district are Kinesiology majors who couldn't find any use for their degree after completing it outside of maybe personal training fitness which pays little.

Also if you're job interviewing and they ask if you plan on getting a BA (they might reference it as "continuing school") or if you mention you're getting a BA, make sure you tell them you're going to school at night or online or both and it won't interfere with your job. Our HR actually ask that question, I was asked it too, and I later found out its to see if the person will quit the new job or request odd times off for school at a later point. They want to make sure you won't quit in six months to take two semeter of day courses or school wont take priority over your job duties.

And of course, enjoy it. College is suppose to be fun. Learning, succeeding at the courses, interacting with other students, going back to school, acheiving goals. Even if we're going the non-traditional route. So there wont be dorms, bon-fires during spring festival, and trying to impress that cute gal or guy with poetry in English 101, and skipping a class to go to the beach (like we did a few times lol). But, enjoy it just the same. Especially if you like your major. I had a blast when I went to CC and the only reason I never went on to get a BA is because I had no clue what I wanted to major in so I just took the AA in Lib Arts, and took a job.
