I have 120 College Credits...
#1
As of today, I have now officially have earned exactly 120 college credits. Unfortunately, they don't all count towards my degree plan. Sad

Not sure why I'm sharing this but, I'm sure a lot of you who started with prior credit before heading to the big 3 can relate.

84 credits count towards my degree requirements.
Earned: AA, AAS, AGS
145+ credits
Bachelors Degree May 2020

@natshar dont worry thats completely normal, it is very rare that all of your 120 credits will apply and that you will need to do more.

If you aren't happy with how one school applies your credit, then apply to the other of the big 3 and see who will give you the most credit toward the degree you are interested in.

If not then you have no choice, just look at your evaluation, see what is missing an work on a plan.

Maybe post your evaluation here and the members can help you work on a plan.

Congratulations all the same. Many of us have a similar "problem" and ended up with many extra credits. I worked the puzzle of trying to find a way to use those extra stragglers for many years, and in my case, it just would have cost too much money and time to make it happen - so eventually, I let them go (deep breath) but it does bother me sometimes!

I have 17 extra credits (so 137). But TESU was the shortest/cheapest/easiest path to a degree. Especially since I had all of my UL requirements met.

@natshar since I know that feeling first hand of wasting all the hard work, especially when those extra credits are hard earned B&M credits.

You ever consider applying those extra extra credits toward another degree? I ended up with extra credits and some of the extra were CJ from my B&M credits.

After my evaluation for the AAS in CJ and I needed just 1 course again to get at AAS in CJ so I ended up adding it, now I just completed my final CJ course at SDC and will get the associates.

Just run different evals and see how they apply. Sometimes you will be a few credits from an associates in some field.

Even if it dosent add any value to your resume or goals it does make you feel like you're doing something worthwhile and not wasting those credits.

It's all good guys. I have two associates degrees I earned a few years ago and I'm getting a third one along with an undergraduate certificate in May both from a local college. Can't a get TESU associate because they don't allow it, I imagine I have the requirements done though.

Every single course I took transfers to TESU, just many of them are "free elective" and I still need almost all my upper level credit.

Right now I have 84 credits done towards a BSBA and 102 credits done towards a BALS. I'm planning on doing the BSBA but should obstacles come up (time, money, etc.) at least I've got the BALS as a backup plan and if I really want to I can do both, but I don't think I'm going to.

I just thought it was interesting the exact number of credits I earned, that's all.

Just wanted to be clear TESU only grants two associates and if I already have two associates I'm not eligible to earn another one. Is this correct?

If the two associates were in the same type and ganted at the same time then its not a problem.

Like me my ASNSM in Math and ASNSM in CS count as my first degree and the AAS in CJ counts as the second. So while it is 3 degrees it only counts as 2.

Yes, TESU policy states that they will only award a maximum of two associates degrees and a maximum of two bachelor's degrees to the same student. If you already have two associates, they will not award another. Likewise for bachelor's degrees.

Technically, those are only two degrees. The first degree is the ASNSM, which includes both the Math and CS options. Options are basically like an AOS, so you can have multiple options under the same degree. The AAS is a second degree.

I already had two different associates degrees from a local school (AA and AAS) prior to even applying to TESU. And it is my understanding that I am not allowed get an Associates degree of any kind from TESU. Is this correct?

Not that it matters anyways, I don't think another general associates degree will anything to resume.

I also have a lot of credits. I have 145 on my TESU transcript and tested out of Technical writing recently with 9 credits ongoing at UAF in German and Archaeology. We just need to be creative and try to get them into degrees at the lowest costs.

I also have a few Grad credits with several school applications pending so just work the system.
TESU BALS Social Sciences Confirmed June 7th
UAF BA Foreign Languages ongoing
TESU BA Anthropology ongoing
UAF MS Emergency Management (Most Likely will start 2019/2020)

I have been here enjoying learning and validating my studies for many years. This forum has a tremendous amount of information and support. My family travels internationally and we write about what we see at https://ExploreTraveler.com and I also post some of my papers online here.
