I have a question
#1
Hey, my local community college is a Sophia partner; Does anyone know if its possible to transfer in Sophia courses, earn my associates at the CC, and then transfer to a state school that wouldn't usually accept ACE credits?

Thanks!

As a general rule, no. The concept is what we call credit washing or credit laundering.

But occasionally it is possible. That concept is often called block transfer.

Whether it's possible in your case depends entirely on the local practice at the state school. Only they can answer this question.

That's correct, without knowing the college and the university in question, we won't know what they will or will not take. Your only option at this time is to contact the school you want to transfer to and ask if it's possible to have a block transfer or possible to transfer these ACE credits into their program. They look at the classes from the source, if it's not from the college, they'll know by auditing your transcripts.

Just like a franchise, they operate differently than the next franchise, even though the company is under the same name company umbrella... An example is when they take coupons or discounts, only participating franchises will offer specific discounts, and in most cases, it will show within the coupon its only available at participating stores. Good luck, have fun, provide us an update or more details on the issue...

I think your best bet is to knock out a bunch of CLEPs to earn credit. Most people, except for a few of the harder exams like math and science, can pass a CLEP with 20 hours or less of study—at least one per week. A lot of colleges have a cap on how many credits you can transfer which usually is at least 30 credits.

You might also want to look into ASU Universal Learner courses to see if they transfer to a state school.

As I understand it, Universal Learner courses appear on your ASU transcript as if you took the actual course during a semester.

+1, I agree... If they don't take Sophia.org, CLEP is the recommended alternative...
