I have another question about graduate work
#1
One of the thoughts in the back of my mind is eventually teaching, but somehow, I never actually took college math.

What happened was that I took statistics for my biz degree without the Finite Math pre-req. Registrar TOTALLY missed that. So, because stats is a higher level course, they said that I didn't have to take another math and could take an elective of my choice, which I took care of last week with the Sociology clep :-)

After I graduate this spring, could I take a math CLEP and have that count as the math credential I would need to teach? How would that work? Would I just have ETS send me the results and then submit it with transcripts later? I remember the alternative certification lady telling me that I could take a math class later and it would count...so I'm thinking a CLEP would too!

Since you have a math rqmt, I assume you are looking at an Elementary cert. Otherwise, must alternative certs at the middle or secondary level, only require specialty courses prior to entering the alternative cert process where they give you the education training.

As far as the CLEP, I'd confirm with the state rep that it counts post-grad for their rqmt. I think I would try to do it now and get it on my undergrad transcript.

Right- alt cert in Tx doesn't require math for secondary/ career tech but does for elementary.

I would love to get this on my undergrad and I possibly could...though I walk in May, I don't officialy graduate until August. I suppose I could take a math CLEP after I finish my last class and get it on the transcript for summer term 2. I'll have to ask the Uni.

Thanks!

If you do decide to take a math clep test, you might try the College Math clep. This is a relatively easy exam. It was the first clep test I ever took. I got a 74.
