I'm starting from bottom up! ... Journey to Bsc in Computer Science

Hi I'm new here! And so happy I found this forum. Just ask for directions to achieve a Bsc in Computer Science. And if there is away to achieve this endeavor of mine with little to no cost. I don't have a GED and I finished highschool in the Caribbean back in 2012. I desire to do all I can online!. Could anyone help me out with a roadmap?

@bjcheung77 was kind enough to advice to be a bit detailed about the thread I created and I respect that. Well first of all, I'm 26 and I finish highschool in the Caribbean back in 2012 as mentioned earlier. My grades was that good if I had sum it all up I would give it an overall Grade C-.

I was a reckless one back then, I went on to do a diploma in Electrical Engineering but unfortunately I didn't complete it. Mentioning all this doesn't make that proud to even remind myself of those failures. However though, the main thing is that I want to fix my life and I know that having a solid education is the foundation to stand on into today society and having the papers to back up also the skills to prove it is essential.

 So I began do some intensive research online as to where I can get the necessary credits needed to get into university. What I have do so far is register at Saylor academy and started to work on my Maths and also my English. I'm currently undertaking Harvard CS50x program through EDX and it amazing. During my research I stumbled upon this forum, I'm so happy I did!. My question or should my request from the much more season member on here even the new one's who might have a know how. How can a person like me who was ones a degenerate get his academic journey on track again with little to no cost. Yeah, I'll be honest the little to no cost sounds like I'm not serious but as of this moment I have no money but the internet and time. So I would be honored for your time and your input my fellow Ed-seekers.

P.s I'll be posting my progress on this forum, just to update everyone and develop a bit of accountability as well.

FYI, a BA and a BS in Comp Sci are usually considered to be the same thing by most employers. To that end, potentially the cheapest way to get a CS degree would be through TESU:

If you do it right, it will wind up costing $7-9k USD. SNHU also has a Comp Sci degree, but I think it winds up costing more than that.

If that is too much for you, what about a different degree? You could get a Bachelor of Liberal Studies - Management Information Systems for as little as $3k, depending on how fast you go. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI

Another possibility would be a degree from University of the People. Right now, it is Nationally Accredited but they are trying to become Regionally Accredited; that may happen as soon as this autumn.

With the information you have provided this far, I would say your best options for now is to take Sophia.org courses to get past that initial 60 credits or so, up to 90 if you wanted, this can be used towards Bottega, UofPeople, UMPI, etc.  Here's a recent post of mine you might want to read: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...er-Science

@rachel83az Thanks! for your input i have a came across TESU while was researching however I don't have the funds right now to support it. I don't know if my mental makes sense but my intentions where to develop technical skills online to probably get a job as a VA or some tech support so I can make the money to fund my education financial.

If you're an American citizen/resident, you might be able to get the Pierpont BOG AAS for free (plus the cost of Sophia) to start with. That could help you to find a job that would fund a Bachelor's degree. Otherwise, you're going to struggle to find anything cheaper than UMPI or UoPeople.

Basically, I would work on 3 things, Certs, Degree, Experience.  You should take your time learning at a pace comfy for you, so take the Coursera/Google & IBM certs for IT knowledge (in addition to what you're doing), this will help you get that "help desk" job you mentioned. Once you have a job or a better paying job, take all the Sophia.org courses you want to take, I suggest everything that will transfer into the degree/school of your choice, be it the ones I mentioned Bottega, UofPeople, UMPI, etc. Take them all from this equivalency list that you need or want to learn.
