Grad School Update For Those Considering It!
#1
Hi All!

Ok, so I just wanted to update all of you on my grad school adventure. As many of you know I have been on the fast track the last year and half and decided to take the plunge at 47 and start grad school. I was truly worried that I wouldn't be able to handle it. I started my MHA at Bellevue University in NE a month ago. So far I'm loving it! This is an accelerated 18 month cohort program, 100% online, no residency required. I have never done a cohort program, so I was very worried about being stuck with a bad teacher or unmotivated students as I had in some of my EC classes. I was also worried about my age, I know it is just a number, but I didn't want to compete with a bunch of young minds! I'm actually about in the average age group. We have at least one in his 60's and lots in their 40's and 50's, as well as some in their late 20's and 30's. It is a nice mix. The work seems fairly static so you know what to expect each week. The instructor is wonderful and the staff have been very responsive when there have been a few hiccups along the way to getting started.

If anyone is hesitant about starting grad school I say go for it! If you are looking for a school with good online programs I can recommend Bellevue University. They seem to have a handle on their online course material and their instructors seem very responsive. I have never waited more than a few hours for a response, even on the weekend or at night. Feedback on work has also been very generous and grades are posted within a few days of the due date. You can work ahead as all assignments are posted and you will not have a tuition increase during your time, as they sign a contract with you guaranteeing your tuition for the entire cohort, even if they have an increase during that time.

I just thought that since I haven't heard much about this school or grad schools in general I would give those of you considering it, some positive feedback to give you the nudge you need to continue on your educational path!

Good luck!
