I agree that this is a good option. However, I'm not sure that Sophia would be a bad option either. If you can join with a referral code for $80 and maximize progress for a single month, you can get a lot done. We know that the language, science, and lab science courses are all problematic at UMPI, so is there a viable alternative to Sophia if UMPI is the goal?

OP already has 4 semesters of Spanish, Bio I & II with labs, and a physical science course.  So there's nothing they NEED to take at Sophia.

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

After investigating all the different avenues, I think UMPI is the best fit.  I just can’t afford anything that relies heavily on PLAs and a lot of alt credit other than CLEP (i.e.TESU and WVU etc.)

I’m still trying to figure out which degree @ UMPI to aim for. Speed really isn’t a priority. I still have 550% of my lifetime Pell eligibility. I’m thinking History, but I’m not sure.

UMPI questions:
I realize I’m running out of time to start the Aug. (Fall I) session. I’m worried that because I’m using Pell I won’t be able to register for Fall II. Does anyone know if that would work? Or would I need to wait for Spring?
Also, I *think* my low gpa won’t be a problem since it was from so long ago, but I’m not sure. Does anyone out there know?

Does anyone have an email address for UMPI yourpace so that my financial aid/low GPA questions can be addressed? Should I just contact the reg. campus (non yourpace) admissions?

Again, thank you so much. I've read so many inspiring posts on this board. I think you all are pretty amazing.

You should complete the FASFA (if you haven't already - if you have you need to add UMPI as a school) and apply to UMPI YourPace without delay. Apply for the degree you think you want now, you can always change it before you start - but you have to pick something to apply. You have time to talk with Financial Aid, UMPI is not going to be looking for money the moment you apply (or even as soon as you get admitted). You're not required to start right away (you can delay start if you wish), but the two things that can take the longest are getting your existing credits evaluated and getting the FASFA processed. Plus if you apply and have the FASFA completd the UMPI Financial Aid office can give you more accurate information vs speculation (based on other people's historical experiences).

Yeah, I completed the FAFSA awhile ago. And yes, UMPI  is one of my schools on FASFA. And... I just now applied to UMPI, per your suggestion.  Cool I was worried deferring enrollment would be a problem. I also didn't know the application was so simple.
Thanks!!

That's a great start, getting the application in and then having your transcripts sent in. Basically, You need to make sure to analyze the evaluation and try to max your transfers in before you begin your session at UMPI. I would create a spreadsheet of the degree plan from the WIKI and then place your credits from the evaluation into the requirements, you'll know what's left and what can be done with the recommendations on the WIKI degree plans, you can then customize if needed.

@stillalive - as bjcheung77 stated be sure to send them all your current transcripts as soon as possible. UMPI receiving them is key to their official admittance process.
