Even though I have not received an official TESC evaluation yet, I feel relieved that I have applied to TESC's BSBA Gen Mgt. I have ordered an evaluation of my foreign transcript to be sent to TESC. I also ordered my Straighterline and ACE transcripts to be forwarded to TESC. I will be posting my evaluation and seeking advice on the way forward when my TESC academic advisement/evaluation is ready.
One mistake I may have committed was not evaluating my foreign high school education alongside the university's. I sense TESC might want to ask me to have it evaluated. I was also wondering whether TESC will ask me to present a TOEFL score. Considering that I studied in English language right from my elementary school through university and that home country- Nigeria, uses English as its official language, can I ask for a waiver based on TOEFL?

I can't answer any of your questions, but does TESC even care about the high school diploma once you have already have a degree? Hopefully, some of the other foreign students will have answers.

TESC won't necessarily care about your high school transcript, but depending on what exams you took in high school it might be in your best interests to have it evaluated. I ended up with 27 college credits from my high school exams.

dang I wished TESC told me about it. I ended up sending just my previous university credits. The only information they really care about is that you completed your high school. In a hypothetical situation, if you lied about completing high school you are still in.

Thank you everyone for your inputs. Tracking status showed that TESC got my ACE transcript yesterday. Straighterline sent out my transcript on Monday. WES has completed my evaluation and will be sending my foreign credits to TESC by the end of this week or early next week. I am super excited at the moment and look forward to getting my TESC evaluation results so I will know where I stand and most importantly, earning my degree from TESC. Thanks everyone.

And, does anyone know how long it takes TESC to send me a letter (email maybe) stating that they have received my application and detailing what are the next steps? I did get an email after applying in which I was sent a link to pay. I also got a payment confirmation email. I was wondering whether I have to contact them, activate something online, or just wait until they contact me.

UPDATE ON MY TESC APPLICATION
So, it has been more than a month that I applied to TESC and did not hear anything from them even though I had sent official transcripts to them from ECE and ACE. I decided to send them a kind of "please update me" mail. I got the below response from someone at admissions.
Quote:Thomas Edison State College is in receipt of your application. As an international applicant, The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) TOEFL: Home is required of all applicants whose primary language is not English. A score of 550 on the written; 213 on the computer version; or 79 on the Internet version is required. The test results must be officially sent from the testing center where the examination was administered.
In order for the College to move forward on processing your application, we must receive an official TOEFL with the minimum passing score. The TOEFL needs to be sent officially from the testing site you have chosen. Once the TOEFL is received, and it has been determined you have a minimum passing score, the College will move forward on processing your application.
I wrote back to them, telling them that I do not need to submit a TOEFL result since on the "Undergraduate Admissions" link at Thomas Edison State College: Applying is easy and can be done 24/7 through our online application and no ACT or SAT scores are required to apply , the second to the last paragraph states that:
Quote:... However, international students whose country of origin is not English-speaking must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)...
I told them that I should be exempted from the TOEFL requirement since my country, Nigeria, is English speaking. Here is a part of my response:
Quote:As an international student whose country of origin is English-speaking, I believe I should be exempted from taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language. My country, Nigeria, is English speaking. Aside the fact that the official language of Nigeria is English, my elementary, high school, and undergraduate studies were all done in English language. I have also taken college level courses at United States institutions- all in English.
May I humbly request that you use your good office to look into this issue and grant me an exemption as I do not fall under the category of those described as "international students whose country of origin is not English-speaking."
I am glad I got a positive feedback from that same person at admissions. He wrote: Quote: My apologies for my oversight, I will have your application processed accordingly.
I am posting this here in case someone might find it useful and also, to update forum members on the journey so far.

You were so polite and many people here in the US don't realize how multi-lingual people from Nigeria are. I went to school with several fellow nurses from both Nigeria and Ghana and they all could speak two even 3 languages. You're request was so polite and matter of fact, I am sure when they investigated your comment they realized the issue which is great. So you are IN!!!!! YAY! I am close to graduating…just a couple more classes! But I hope be here when you post your "I'm Finished" thread!!!!
Way to go!

You are right- in Nigeria, there are so many languages. We have over 250 languages and I could only speak about 7. I feel so excited to be joining TESC and I will be updating this thread as I progress in the journey. I can't wait to post the I'M DONE thread and brag about my TESC degree. I see you are two courses away from graduating. You must have put in a lot of work to come this far. Congratulations.

Yipee, I just got an email from admissions welcoming to TESC and stating that I have been accepted. I quickly logged in to establish my account at the Online Students Services. I could not access MyEdison still.
I understand my next step will be to enroll but I want to understand this very clearly. There have been threads pointing out that one can use the TECEP to fulfil residency requirements of 24 CR. If I were to use the TECEPS for residency, will I pay the International Students Enrolment fee of $3,062.00 before taking TECEPS for the residencies? Reason I feel a little bit confused was that in Sanatone's thread: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...n-big.html it seems there is no mention of enrollment fee.
Quote:If it is true that you can fulfill the residency requirements with TECEPs at $36 per credit hour under the new Per Credit Hour Tuition Plan, TESC will be the cheapest of the Big 3. Here is the breakdown.
TESC
With Capstone
$476 (for capstone) X 3 = $1428
$36 (TECEP) X 21 (for a total of 24 credit hours for residency) = $756
$1428 + $756 = $2184
Without Capstone
$36 X 24 = $864
Can someone please enlighten me on this? Thank you in advance.
