LSUS Master of Health Administration
#1
Has anybody tried getting their MHA from LSU-Shreveport? According to the website you can expect to finish in as little as 12 months (Many people are saying 10) and tuition seems to be extremely affordable for an AACSB accredited school. I've done a little research on the best online/hybrid MHA programs and see LSUS listed among the best consistently.

At this point I would say that I am seriously considering pursuing this degree as long as there are no major red flags I am not aware of. Do you guys know any other online MHA programs that are this affordable and can be accelerated in under a year?

Also, would this be a good feeder program for someone who wanted to pursue the DHA from VUL in the future?

I can’t speak about the program itself but I actually have a friend who finished her MBA - Project management from there and she loved it!

One person in another thread reported having serious enough tech issues with LSUS that they left. Of course, your experience may vary, those issues may have been resolved, etc, etc, etc.

That was me. Examity was an absolute nightmare. I don't see how any proctor service will actually ever improve. The professors had to get involved in each of my classes because students were having so many problems. I wasn't in the MHA program. I was in construction management program. No one calls it LSUS. It's LSU. That's the main LSU campus.

The courses are 7 weeks long except for the summer ones which are 5 weeks long. You pay for Examity out of pocket for every single exam. So if a class has 3 exams which was common in my program then you pay 3 x $26.95. Financial doesn't cover it. You pay it directly to Examity. You're also required to submit a photo of your driver's license to Examity. I was never able to remove mine when I left LSU that still has me super annoyed.

It sounds like you were at LSU, not LSUS.  LSUS doesn’t have Construction Management, LSU does.  And everyone calls LSU-Shreveport “LSUS”.  It’s kind of like how UMPI is part of University of Maine, but also its own thing.   From what I understand, LSUS uses ProctorU, not Examity. Although I have no experience with either one, so I don’t know if ProctorU is any better.

The main campus is in Baton Rouge not Shreveport. Which did you go to?

Basically, If your ultimate goal is the 36 doctoral/grad credit VUL DHA, you really don't need a specific Masters in Health Administration for entry. The main requirement is you will need a minimum of 90 graduate credits beyond the Bachelor's degree in order to finish off the degree... Otherwise, you will need an externship that can be up to 24 credit hours. So, the best bet is to get two quick Masters through Competency Based Education providers... an example would be the UMPI MAOL CBE + Walden MHA Tempo, they shouldn't be sharing the same courses (hopefully, no overlapping courses to give you the full/max of 60 credits).

Sounds easy enough! Do you have any thoughts on the Doctor of Education in Leadership degree offered by LSUS?

Here is an 8 year thread talking about their MBA program. I realize that it's a different degree, but might be useful for getting an idea of what education is like there.
