Unimarconi Master via ENEB Thread

I have access! I wasn't sure about my program actually starting on the 15th because it was a Saturday, and I was correct to doubt ENEB. I emailed them Saturday morning and never heard back, but it magically showed up in campus.eneb.com about 1PM Spain time on the 17th. So I'm in.

As far as "transferring" my ENEB work...not so much. There are 9 classes plus the MFP (Master Final Project) i.e. the only thing I was supposed to have to do in the first place. This might be an intentional lie/lie of omission/lie of incompetence from ENEB, as there isn't a single module in the ENEB Big Data degree that directly overlaps with the Unimarconi Big Data degree. Some of the topics are similar but the books provided in the courses for the Unimarconi degree are different. The sales page says "subjects that have already been passed are validated." But hurr hurr, no subjects overlap, so it sucks to be me. Either that, or the subjects in the ENEB Big Data degree are completely different now than they were when I did it in 2023.

Oh man, that sucks to hear that ENEB Big Data doesn't map cleanly onto anything from Unimarconi! As that was my plan to do.

Does perhaps the ENEB AI for Business degree map onto anything with Unimarconi?

Nobody has completed the ENEB to Unimarconi program. It was announced in September, the first enrollment was supposed to be October. It’s a 9 month program and 0we have to wait 6 months from enrollment before we can take the final exam.

Is that true that you have to wait, even if you do all the required coursework beforehand double fast??

They did turn that exam on in month 4 for everyone enrolled, but that's no longer relevant because that exam seems to have been removed.

They do not let you graduate until the full academic timeframe of 11 months has elapsed. You can complete the coursework relatively quickly, but graduation itself takes a while. This is standard practice across the more established and/or regulated programs. For instance some propios at other providers require a minimum time period for graduation (at least 6 months), and others not only require the 6 or 6+ months, but also require a thesis.

As for Big Data “not mapping,” I think there has been a misunderstanding. In actuality, the previous modules from the ENEB Big Data program do map onto the corresponding Unimarconi modules under the transfer pathway. You are not being asked to retake those modules from scratch or complete new written assignments for them.

Instead, once you start the Unimarconi program, you complete multiple-choice questions for each of those mapped modules to validate the learning being transferred from ENEB. You then submit a Master’s Final Project (MFP).

When the ENEB-to-UniMarconi pathway first rolled out, the structure was a little different. One had to submit a MFP, and then after several months had elapsed, the student could access the 135 question final.  More recently, I noticed that the 135-question final exam has been removed. Current cohorts instead complete smaller multiple-choice assessments within each of the nine mapped modules, followed by the MFP.

So the modules still map. What has changed is simply how Unimarconi validates the prior learning. Instead of one large 135-question final exam at the end, the assessment has been broken into more bite-sized multiple-choice questions for each individual module. My guess is that this allows Unimarconi to issue individual module grades on its transcript instead of recognizing as transfer/pass.

 Totally understand that sentiment. Hence, anything I have ever completed through ENEB has been “retired” for my purposes. That said, I do think one has to appreciate what ENEB brought to the table. Had it not been for ENEB, so many of the affordable educational pathways through Spain and Italy, including both own-degree (título propio) programs and official degrees, might not have become so familiar to non-Spanish or Italian speakers.

These days, I’m doing a mix of official master’s degrees while also taking advantage of título propio programs where the additional academic study and credits are useful.
