Another example of a TECEP that is open book is Federal Income Taxation. You're allowed to use references. The test is really just about being able to look up stuff in the tax code. Someone just wrote up a review on it in the Big 3 sub-forum.

To ShotoJuku: You can look up which public schools accredited by SACS give electronic rates to online students. This is just their term for in-state tuition. These programs are denoted by a green "E" on the right.
https://secure.electroniccampus.org/stud...choice.asp

For the programs that have a red "ACM" on the right, it means they give in-state tuition to those living in states covered by SACS if those states don't have a similar program available online. You can see if your state is eligible for any programs under the Academic Common Market at the link below.

I have a work associate who is just now completing his Associates Degree with Excelsior and is looking to move onto a Bachelor Degree program at another RA school....however....he is not the "test type" and prefers taking "classes" per se.

Question: Can anyone recommend an RA school that: 1. Has a BS program with online "classes" and 2. is as AFFORDABLE (Least Expensive the Better) as they come?

Thanks!!

MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

COSC charges well over $300 per credit hour. So far, a few schools that charge less than $250 per credit hour have been named. Now that I think about it, TESC's comprehensive tuition plan is a good deal. It's about $230 per credit hour.

In that case, TESC would be a better deal for the price. Another good option for the OP's associate would be to stay at Excelsior. Since the associates degree lines up well with the bachelors, I would think this would be a good option to consider.

At $425 per credit hour, I don't know. Bellevue takes block transfers. The tuition for the flexxive programs is $250 per credit hour for less than 12 hours or $3,000 per 6 month term.

I don't know why anyone would choose to take many classes at any of the big 3, their strength lies not in affordability but in utility. Take actual classes through a local school or an affordable alternative and transfer them back....that's where the economy lies and wil provide for the format your friend requires.

CSU Pueblo is about $150/credit, BYU isn't much more. Even Harvard Extension is only $250/credit.

TESC is not the cheapest option, but their non-resident tuition is very competitive. For $8395 or approximately $233 per credit hour, you're getting up to 36 credits per year in online/guided study courses, e-Packs, TECEPs, and PLAs. Not too many RA schools, public (out-of-state) or private, charge that little.

But yeah, I think you have me beat with CSU Pueblo and Brigham Young if their distance degree programs are at the same $149 and $168 rate, respectively. Fort Hays State University charges $182 per credit hour.
