Liberty transfer equivalencies
#1
I thought I'd posted this before but apparently I only posted as a reply to another, very specific, thread.  Here's how my courses transferred to Liberty University online, in case someone else is looking for this information.

Shmoop - Bible as Literature = BIBL 1xx (Biblical Studies)
Shmoop - Literature in the Media = CSTU 1xx (Culture Studies)
Study.com - Personal Finance = BUSI 223 (counts toward Business AOS)
Study.com - American Government = GOVT 220 (filled Social Sciences elective requirement)
SL - Introduction to Religion = ANTH 203 (filled Culture Studies elective requirement)
SL - IT Fundamentals = CSIS 1xx (Computer Science/Information Science, I think?)
SL - Introduction to Communications = COMS 101 (filled Communications elective requirement)
SL - Business Ethics = BUSI 1xx (counts toward Business AOS)
SL - Survey of World History = HIWD 1xx (filled information literacy elective requirement)
SL - Introduction to Sociology = SOCI 200

Business Ethics is not accepted as satisfaction of the Ethics/Philosophy requirement as it is basically everywhere else.
Literature in the Media is not accepted as a literature course, and will not satisfy the literature requirement.  (I appealed both of those, and failed.)
TECEPs are not accepted in transfer at all.  (Basically, the only test-based credits they'll accept are CLEP or DANTES.  I find it puzzling that any school would accept credits granted by a given institution based on taking the actual class but not accept credits granted in-house by the same institution based on another means they deem equivalent -- it seems like either they'd trust the school's judgment or not -- but it is what it is.)

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for posting.   Quick question - how many total credits does Liberty Online allow you to transfer in from all the different credit sources?

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, I think it's 90 for a bachelors degree. Let me double-check that, though.

Yes, 90.

Wow - 90 isn't bad at all. Do they accept most ACE courses or is it hit and miss?

I can’t remember if I posted this in the past but FEMA credits transfer directly to LIberty as free electives if you need any. I transferred in all I needed and they posted them very quickly, just emailed the correct department a copy of my certificates!

As far as I can tell, they will pretty much accept all ACE courses; they just may or may not be as the course equivalencies you'd expect.  I had two Shmoop literature courses and Straighterline's Business Ethics, and as far as they're concerned I've never taken a literature or philosophy class.  So that's baffling and a little frustrating.  But they did accept all of those courses.  And Business Ethics came in as a business course that counts toward my Business AOS.

So I'd say they're pretty generous in their transfer policy and not unfair, but a little quirky compared to the body of other schools that take ACE-type credit.
