MSCS - GSW ($ 9,210) - Prereqs
#1
https://www.gsw.edu/college-of-business-...uting/mscs

Master of Science in Computer Science (Online)

MSCS Tuition $9,210 at $257/credit hour

Pre-requisite Courses
  • CSCI 3500 Data Structures and Algorithms
  • CSCI 4200 Design of Operating Systems

It must be one of the cheapest MSCS available?

Maybe it could be useful to take those two courses from TESU, if you plan to enter here.

Georgia Tech's is cheaper with a better reputation. UT Austin I think is in this range as well, but it's been a while since I looked at their online program.

Its not clear where to take those 2 prereqs? Is it from GSW before applying, or could be equivalent course from somewhere else. Do they allow non degree options to take prereqs course?

equivalent course from somewhere else would work, but not sure how they feel about alt-credit options like study.com. They might be okay with that, or they might expect them to have come from traditional coursework.

I am more interested in taking the pre-reqs courses (algorithm/DS and Operating System), if non-degree options available to only take those 2 pre-reqs course, as this fulfill some of GT OMS Cyber admission requirements.

The MSCS tuition mentioned $9,210, is closed to cost for 36 credits, so I guess that is the costs assuming the student need to take 2 pre-reqs course. if the student already satisfied the pre-reqs, it only costs $7710 ($257 * 30 credits).

GT is open to alt credit, I know some people just showed proof of non-credit MOOCs they completed for pre-reqs of the OMS Cybersecurity degree.

I can't quite figure out the pricing here - it says "MSCS Tuition only $9,210* at $257/credit hour!" and "The MS program consists of 30 graduate credit hours in Computer Science."

When I multiply
$257/cr x 30cr, I get $7710. So where is that extra $1,500 coming from??

It also has that asterisk after the price ($9,210*) but there's nowhere you can find what the * is referring to.

It's a good catch and a big enough sum to make it worth checking it out.

In addition to looking at these colleges/universities, don't put your eggs in one basket. I would apply to a few of them, like your top 3 choices and then a "backup 3" in your neck of the woods. Sometimes you may not get into your first three choices, and you will have to settle for one of your backup options. Review a few you are interested in, there are some similar Comp Sci, Data Analytics, Data Science, and IT degrees mentioned in the Grad subforum for about 10-12K flat.
