Masters Data Science
#11
Does anyone have any thoughts on this program from Cumberlands. Data science programs are sometimes tricky to rate because there doesn’t seem to be a standardized curriculum like there is for computer science. This is a $10k Masters and the curriculum looks like it’s on par with NYU.

$315 x 31 credits = $9765, plus any other fees. Not a bad price point, they also have two options for capstone/internship as well to choose from.

It doesn't apply to the MBA/MSDS combination.  I asked after I finished my MS in Data Science from Eastern and they told me that the discount won't apply.  I think it only applies to undergraduates who return to get graduate degrees, unless they changed it within the last 6-8 months.

Did anyone mention CU Boulder yet? (Sorry didn't go through all the posts carefully). It's only $5k more than Eastern, and the granularity is you can register for just 1 unit at a time. It's a huge step up from Eastern. Eastern is a regional school while CU Boulder is a big name AAU school. I'm a degree collector like many others here, and thinking of throwing in the CU Boulder MSDS to my resume. No application; earn your way in like HES.

Yeah, agree that is a good price, although if price was the main criteria, UT austin is a better bang for the buck than both Eastern and CU.

From reading the Eastern MSDS threads, what I understand is the appeal of Eastern is how quickly you can complete it compared to other similar programs.  There's also the fact that you can take exams multiple times to get your desired grade - so that is a bit less stressful from an academic standpoint.

Many people underestimate how hard DS/AI is unless you have a prior background in both stats and CS.  A lot of CS folks struggle with stats and vice versa.  If Eastern is "easier" then that definitely adds to the appeal.

I think the data science masters is classified as an executive masters, so the tuition is $500 instead of $315.  So 500 x 31 = 15,500.

The executive program is a hybrid. They also offer an online program as well, unless I am mistaken.

I'm not sure if you guys have seen this....

Masters in Data Science from Northwestern University for $13k.

However... its being offered through Great Learning

I dont have much experience with Great Learning... I am currently doing a National University of Singapore executive education program through their platform and if its anything to go by then it may be videos from Northwestern with live sessions held by Great Learning faculty.

Not sure if the same would apply to the Masters program. Anyone have experience with this program?

I am considering applying but am having challenges with the two recommendation letters required (long story....cant let my coworkers/manager know that I am studying) which makes the Coursera CU Boulder admission more attractive.

EDIT: For some courses the price varies based on location. Certain locations may not be able to see some programs (e.g US)

That is an absolutely excellent price for a master's degree in data science from northwestern. This was actually one of the programs I was originally looking at, even before I became a data analyst. The problem was that it cost about $40,000 or $50,000 previously. If there's a way to take this program for $13,000, assuming that you still get your degree from northwestern university, that's an outstanding deal.

Great find!  Thanks for sharing!  If this is real, then that is a hell of a deal - probably the cheapest degree offered by Northwestern, a very prestigious university!

Part of me believes if things are too good to be true...Anyone here who actually applied/enroled in this program?

The skeptic in me is asking why the webpage of MSDS at Northwestern SPS says 58,860 as the total cost?
https://sps.northwestern.edu/masters/dat...-costs.php

How can they offer 2 different prices?
