Microsoft Office Certifications
#21
Lots of ACE recommendations for Microsoft trainings, actually.

I kind of think that Microsoft is practicing opaque pricing here.  It probably charges different prices for corporate accounts rather than individuals.

Literally didn't occur to me until seeing this post that I could potentially get ACE credit for them. But sure enough, both are listed as worth 1 credit on the ACE website. Nice!

Thank you! Let me ask, how did you get to that site? If I'm on the Microsoft list, and looking at the exam, the only place I can find to "go" is to the testing center link which for the exams I looked at, don't have anything - no price or procedure for registering. I see that I can buy a voucher from the link you posted, but how did you get to the voucher site? It doesn't appear to be a Microsoft link, is that right?
EDIT to add: Certiport only has a handful of testing centers near me, which are oddly enough located at high schools and middle schools (?) but the link Eric shared says PearsonVUE. Does it matter?

I occasionally read the techexams.net forums for tech certification deals and this is one of the discount voucher sites that is commonly cited there.  It is probably not in Microsoft's best interests to be transparent in pricing because of all of its business accounts and third party voucher systems allow it to be opaque.

Note: There also seems to be a system for student and teacher pricing on these vouchers.  More research here might result in an inexpensive voucher.

When you find an official certiport exam location it should tell you a price. I took the 2016 Microsoft office and it was only 25 dollars to take the test. It was pretty easy since I work with it everyday.

That's probably my missing link. My exam locations don't provide any info - some don't even have contact info.

Here is an example of what mine shows:

United States
zip 28105
Microsoft Office Specialist
Microsoft Office 2013
77-418 (first choice on the list, but same results for all)

Top Result:
NCDPI - Hough High School
700 East Stonewall Street
Suite 400
Charlotte North Carolina 28202

Second Result:

Rock Hill South Carolina 29730

etc... it goes on like this. It's very confusing to me, especially since Charlotte is a big enough city AND we have a Microsoft campus here.

Maybe this is why?  If Microsoft has a campus there of their own, it might not be in their best interest to make it easy to access information about testing through someone else.

Oh wow when I took mine in Va it was at a Certiport place (I think Microsoft runs those). That could be why they advertised mine that way. I'm sure the Microsoft Office and there's one other (the name escapes me) that are really cheap like 25 dollars or less cheap. The test is 1hr. If you work with Office a lot you should be able to pass no problem. Microsoft also has training for each certification on their certs website. I'll see if I can get a link to it.
