NAU MCIT
#1
Hi all! It's been a while since I've created a new thread. I figured it would be a good idea to document my progress since I started the NAU MCIT with a focus on Information Security & Assurance last week. AFAIK no one has done this program here, so why not?

I already made my first blunder-- I thought each section of the lessons required both a 300-word discussion post AND a 1000-word essay. I was regretting it because there were 4 lessons in the first course and that would have been a LOT of writing.

Buuut turns out it's discussion OR essay... missed that in the course information section. And did not realize til I did both for the first section. On the bright side, I caught it early on! At least it seems a lot less intimidating now Tongue

Is this the competency based program or the traditional learning program you're enrolled in?

Tell us how it goes, very curious to see how fast you are able to complete courses! My impression was that it would be much longer than WGU.
WGU MS ITM, 2021.
TESU BACS, 2020.
TESU BSBA, 2018.
TESU ASNSM in Computer Science, 2018.

I think so too... at least for the InfoSec emphasis the courses are only two lessons each! Studying for the CISSP concurrently so hopefully it won't be too challenging

Interesting that there's discussion posts for a competency based program. It's not like there will be an active discussion. I guess it's nice to have options though.

Well no one that I know of has completed this... but it is $3k for 6 months which is pretty good for a Master's

Managing a part-time internship and full-time job along with this so I don't think I'll be rushing through this to be honest  Blush

Walden also has discussion posts in their Tempo competency programs. In the MHA, these are optional, but can be useful for a variety of reasons. But yes, usually not active discussions....more like a bulletin board of other students' thoughts most of the time. And some are like really slowly growing data sets, where students are asked to collect certain information from their community and share it, while reflecting on how or why it is the same or different from others.
