PBS Frontline: College Inc.
#1
Can be viewed here- College Inc. | FRONTLINE | PBS Video

Don't know if it's been posted here yet- very interesting. Focuses on for-profit education models, touches on DL learning, accreditation, etc.

Yeah, that came out a few months ago, although I still haven't had the chance to watch it. Thanks for posting it, or I would have forgotten.

From what I hear, University of Phoenix was depicted as Satan's lair and in general the for-profit online schools were slammed. However, it seems that PBS did an unfortunate job by neglecting to explain that not all for-profits are run exactly like AIU, Kaplan, UofP, etc, nor that there are plenty of people who are happy with such schools and who benefited greatly from their experience.

Here is UofP's long response to its portrayal in the documentary: FRONTLINE College Inc. Response - University of Phoenix

I saw the show, thought it was bias. They made a big deal about the fact U of Phoenix is for profit vs most schools being "non profit". Many of the complaints apply just as much to "non profit" B&M schools; ie. students graduating with mountains of debt and no good job prospects.

Thought this video was very interesting. It's a couple years old but talks about the for-profit college models of UoP, Grand Canyon and few others.
