NH Colby-Sawyer College cut their tuition 62% in 2023 ($46,000 to $17,500)

Colby-Sawyer College to slash tuition 62% (New Hampshire Union Leader)

Quote:New London’s Colby-Sawyer College will cut tuition to $17,500 per year starting in the fall of 2023, slashing the sticker price from more than $46,000, with an eye toward competing with New Hampshire’s public colleges.

Not suprisingly, applications then went up by 75% after the cut. While that is still expensive, the fact that they were able to do that and continue operating just goes to show how much of higher education's price-inflation is artificial.

Quote:A recent study from federal student loan servicer Sallie Mae found more than four out of five families will dismiss a college based on the price of attendance, without any other research.

They needed to do a study to come up with this information?

Quote:Stuebner said the tuition reduction shouldn’t mean any major changes to the college.

How is that possible? I could never imagine a business taking a 62% cut in revenue and nothing changing.

They might be making up some of the cost other ways, like increasing enrollment, adding more units to degrees, etc.

It is still $17,500 too much imo

Increased enrollment seems the most likely.

Some of the ways they might be making up the cost include increasing enrollment or adding more units to degrees.
