Navigating UNISA-University of South Africa

Anyone here with tips/warnings on navigating application and carrying out a distance master or doctoral program at UNISA?

To an American accustomed to rolling admissions and accommodating, quick help the interface and requirements look like something out of 1959, and even professors I've e-mailed there say it is a bit slow and hard-to-follow and they 'have no real clue.'

It looks like a nightmare of:
>S-l-o-w responses
>Deadlines
>Strange certifications of paperwork
>Publication requirements

Any UNISA graduates here with tips?

Given everything I've ever seen about doing a doctorate through UNISA, particularly on DegreeInfo, I don't understand why anyone would ever engage in that sort of masochism.

It's a very affordable option, but the length and amount of work to get there is tedious... I would recommend them for those who want to go through the motions of a traditional route if the Canadian/US agent still existed. I think they've closed their doors and now it's not as streamlined as before for just entry into their programs... Wait until you get to the enrolled route, I think there are more things to look out for than meets the eye.
