Need Help-70 Credits Earned- No Degree Yet
#11
I think you have misread something. Bachelor degrees will be 120 credit hours. But, if you are ok with a Liberal Arts degree, then you can finish really quick with CLEP, DSST or UExcel exams. You have upper level credits, just fill in the blanks with some of the quickest tests to study for. Or go with ACE credit from places like Straighterline, Study.com, ALEKS, Shmoop, etc...

Thank you, I must have misread. It looks like I would have a long way to go. I think about 50 credits worth to get a degree.

It might be faster than you think. If you enroll at one if the big three and aren't picky about your major. 6 months would not be unrealistic. You would need to enroll after you finish your current classes. Then see exactly which requirements you need. Fill in those requirements with Study.com or Straighterline classes. Those courses can be done within days if you put your mind to it. Also, with your previous course work, Im betting you can pass the CLEP Natural Sciences and the CLEP Soical Science and History exams with minimal studying. Those tests are worth 6 credits each. Also most people who have taken two English classes will have no trouble passing the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature exam.

mark4221 Wrote:Yes, thank you, this is what I was asking. I am trying to look into another College because ENMU won't let me pass without Stats 213. I have completed both Eng classes which is 101 and 104 Eng Comp and Research. What are your thoughts on COSC ( Charter Oak)? I see their requirements are less. Would you not be able to go on to a Master's degree with one of their Liberal Arts Bachelors? Also about ALEKS Stats Course, I have never heard of it before. What would I use this for? I'm sorry that I am not aware of this stuff.

I no very little about COSC so I can't help you there. A Bachelor's degree from any of the schools we talk about here can get you into a master program. My advice on that if figure out which Masters program you want to be in and work backwards from that. ALEKS is ACE Credit excepted at the three schools we talk about here called the "Big 3". ALEKS is a cheap and efficient way to earn up to 12 math credits for $20. You can't beat that.

mark4221 Wrote:I see that Charter Oak has the quickest degree. I see that it is only 90 Credits for Bachelors of Art and 60 Bachelor of Science. So, who would you suggest?

I think you may be looking at this and misinterpreting it: https://www.charteroak.edu/catalog/curre...ements.cfm

These show the Liberal Arts credits you need IN ADDITION TO the courses you need in the major that you choose. You need 120cr to graduate from any of the Big 3 schools.

Also, I don't think your Foundations for Stats course will count at TESU, since your own school doesn't count it as a true Stats course. Most "foundation" courses are not considered college-level coursework.

And I do see that ENMU requires Stats as a course for ALL majors there. I've not seen a school require that before, but there you go.

I almost don't want to post this because it is such a generic degree for all of those lovely CDIS credits. However, I totally understand just needing any degree to get or keep a job. Ergo this is a Bachelor of Science in Individualized Studies in Communications/ Social Work from Charter Oak. I checked and the Communications concentration would require extra courses.

Regarding the math, I put your course in as fulfilling the quantitative literacy requirement, but it might not. If it doesn't, you could just take ALEKS College Algebra (really, Beginning/ Intermediate/ College Algebra for 9 hours at $20, but hurry because it ends soon). Shmoop also has math courses if you'd rather take those.

Part of your Cornerstone course will be justifying why you are majoring in this combination of credits.
