cookderosa Wrote:Ok, I pulled up the catalog. It is an AAS degree, which is an associate of applied science (I knew there was a reason someone told you algebra or stats! LOL). There were a zillion areas of concentration in the AAS, and I checked 7 of them before I realized they all probably have the exact same math requirement:
<< Mathematics 3
Intermediate algebra or a college-level mathematics course satisfying delivering institution's mathematics graduation requirement-if an acceptable mathematics course applies as technical or program elective, you may substitute a natural science course for mathematics. >>
If I were you, I would seriously look at the wording here. This is the exact type of requirement wording on almost every AAS program (I am a teacher in an AAS program for just over 16 years now) and I would bet a bundle of money that you can use any 100 level or higher since they added the phrase "or a college-level mathematics...delivering institution" which is wide open unless your delivering institution as some odd requirement.
The TESC MAT105 is a piece of cake, but just out of curiosity, which math does your community college want you in? You could probably follow the process I told you about asking to get into a 100 level intended for non-math/science majors (which would be easier than getting into intermediate algebra). Some schools have math classes like "mathematics for educators" or "mathematics for liberal arts" or "college mathematics" and possibly "applied math topics" which are all going to be much easier - and all at or above the 100 level.
I know I could take College Math, it can be a 100 level course but I don't think any 100 level course would be okay, because I have Business Math but that doesn't count.

Based on this wording, it seems as though if you are using business math, your other 3 credits could be from science? If that were true, you could find an easy science exam- nutrition, astronomy, computers, etc.

If you end up needing a math, I still think the easiest solution is going to be asking the department head. It's totally his call. (bring cookies hilarious )

I can sure relate to your problem. I'm one math test away from having my BS at Excelsior. After taking/passing 32 exams (CLEP,Dantes and ECE) at a pace of about one a week, I've been stuck for months trying to get comfortable enough with math to take the college math CLEP. It's been almost 30 years since I took math, and I wasn't too good at it then.
I don't know if you are an excelsior student, but I learned last week that if you are, you can get free on line math tutoring from a website called Smarthinking.com. Apparently it is a free perk with your Excelsior tuition. This is a great site for independent math study. You can chat live with a math tutor 24/7. As an FYI, they also offer tutoring in a number of other subjects. For Excelsior students, the link is on the right side of the screen after you sign into the My ECE page.

The CCAF is an online Air Force degree, it's not really a campus college. As far as science or math, I am pretty sure it has to be Math because I have Astronomy and few other science courses clepped or danted.

You sat in plenty of classrooms in basic, tech school, ALS, etc.
One thing that I don't see in your signature that you will need for CCAF is Speach.
Did you take that somewhere else?

Cookderosa,
Will you please tell me what this course is like? What is the format, the amount of work required, what concepts are covered, etc.? I would be very grateful for any information! My daughter needs a math course or test that is a piece of cake.
