Sophia public Speaking, dealing with it...
#1
Hello community

Today is my day number 14 with the Sophia Public Speaking course, everything is done (still waiting for the assignment nro2 grade), but not the two videos.

So I am working with my first video, just writing the speech.

My question is the following, did this video not require a visual resource (slides, or a big printed sheet behind me)?

From what I had read earlier in the forum, I thought this was necessary, but it is not a requirement that is requested by the assignment.
BSBA: 70% completed (84 credits of 120)

I didn't use any visual aids in my videos. There wasn't really anything that worked for my topic, and I could afford to be docked some points.

I just printed out a monochrome 8.5" x11" chart I downloaded from the Net.  At least when I took the course, it was definitely in the rubric.

At one point I held it up and said, "As you can see from this chart..."

the first speech, Touchstone #3, does not require a visual aid but the "retake" which is Touchstone #4 DOES require a visual aid.  It can be a VERY simple visual like a sheet of paper with a few statistics or a picture illustrating a point.

I put a basic powerpoint(only took a few minutes to throw it together) on the tv behind me which helped me to organize the flow of my presentation without the need for a teleprompter or brute memorization.
