New excelsior plan?
#1
I've been checking everything out and i think I'm leaning toward the excelsior bachelor's in liberal arts. I've got about 36 credits from a community college. I was originally looking at the Saylor courses, but i read on another thread that excelsior only accepted a few credits from ACE. I did go to their website and did find that there is no maximum to the clep/dsst credits they accept. Would CLEP be the best decision then as far as time frame and acceptance goes? I'm sort of New to this concept, and I work full time in between doctors appointments and surgical procedures, so I'd love the fastest roadmap, hopefully cost efficient also. I'm usually very good at studying for tests especially under pressure. I was attracted to the Saylor courses Because i can do them with pretty much no planning from home on demand Thanks to proctor u. Thanks in advance for any input you guys take the time to share!

EC will take unlimited ACE credits. How they will all fit into a degree plan is something separate, so that will need planning.

BTW - any reason to choose EC over TESU or COSC for a BALS? They are the most expensive of the bunch.

I thought they were the only ones that would take all credits except the capstone.

TESU will as well - they both take 117cr.  COSC will take all credits except the capstone and cornerstone (so 114cr).

Oh okay. And all three usually accept all ACE credits?

Like I said, they will take them all, it's just a matter of if/where they will fit into your degree plan.  For example, if you are an Art major, and you have a whole bunch of accounting classes, the problem isn't going to be that a school won't "accept" the courses, there just isn't anywhere to put them that's helpful to you.

Excelsior college will count many DSST as UL.  TESU will not.  Not sure about COSC.

Look at all three.  They are NOT the same.

This is not at all true!

TESU will bring in all UL (per ACE) exams as UL except Intro to Law Enforcement and Civil War, PLUS they will bring in exams that are NOT ACE-approved as UL for 5 additional courses (Business Ethics & Society, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Principles of Finance, and Management Information Systems).

This may all change as TESU undergoes an analysis of ACE/NCCRS courses (they look to be aligning much more closely with ACE than they have previously), but at this point in time, you're much better off at TESU if you want to take DSST exams than EC or COSC.

Of course, Excelsior requires many more UL courses than TESU in the first place. As Dfrecore says, you have to analyze your specific situation.
NanoDegree: Intro to Self-Driving Cars (2019)
Coursera: Stanford Machine Learning (2019)
TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)
TECEP:Env Ethics (2015); TESU PLA:Software Eng, Computer Arch, C++, Advanced C++, Data Struct (2015); TESU Courses:Capstone, Database Mngmnt Sys, Op Sys, Artificial Intel, Discrete Math, Intro to Portfolio Dev, Intro PLA (2014-16); DSST:Anthro, Pers Fin, Astronomy (2014); CLEP:Intro to Soc (2014); Saylor.org:Intro to Computers (2014); CC: 69 units (1980-88)

Just curious... I thought I read that TESU charges higher tuition for out of state students? is that true?
