Hello Summer -
Welcome to the IC-Forums!
Many students report that the IC material is sufficient to pass and of course you may always use some additional sources (see below) as well.
In any event - it's always best to gauge your readiness via some practice/mock exams before sitting the real thing. GOOD LUCK!!

I seen that you have passed sociology can you tell me what study material you used and what was the main focus as were their alot of questions on names of the greats and what they did. This will be my first test and I'm not sure if I'm ready to test, because some people say you need more than just the college-net books. I ordered the clep sociology study book but haven't recieved it yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated......Summer

I have recently taken the Sociology exam and I believe a good resource for you would be the REA: Introduction to Sociology book. You can get if off Amazon for $20 or so. That book with the IC flashcards and you will be fine. I scored a 75 with four days study.
Good luck!

USE INSTANTCERT!! It is the best study tool out there, especially for this test. Make sure to memorize all the answers, and read both the question and answer to each card, each time. Do that for a week or two, and you'll pass with an easy A.

Hi Summer11904,
OK, I just came back from my test and I passed with a 59. Don't worry, if I would have studied more, I would have gotten a better passing, but I only had two days.
IC is sufficiant for a good pass. For questions you don't know just use commen sense.
Good luck,

I believe that IC is enough in many cases for many people to pass this one, however, as this is your first exam I would suggest that you go in "over" prepared rather than under.
In addition to using IC, I would recommend (at the very least) using the REA book as a supplement and perhaps the Standard Deviant vhs/dvd just as an added level of preparation. Don't forget to use the Peterson mock/practice exams too - they are excellent!
Why?
Because it will nearly double/triple your ability to pass that will in turn give you greater confidence for your next exam and of course the biggest reason.....THREE CREDITS!!!
Remember, if you fail (God forbid) you have to wait SIX MONTHS before taking the exam again.
OK enough said, get back to studying and GOOD LUCK!!

I have the Sociology book from TCN and I bought a CLEP Sociology book (older) book and I have joined this sight. Do you think that will be enough and is there a big difference between Peterson's and TCN. And thanks again I agree I need to be overly prepared or at least that was my plan, due to not knowing anything about the testing procedures at all. :o
