Hi everybody, I want to thank all of you for the great info. I have been browsing through the forum for a couple days now. Everybody seems so knowledgeable and helpful.
I need a little advice if you dont mind. After many years, I have decided to continue the pursuit of my BA/BS. I was completely unaware that you could test and receive college credits. This has since gotten my attention.
I have a few credits from many years ago from a local community college. I have recently enrolled at the same school, with the intention of taking a few online classes. I am also, currently taking college algebra at Straighterline. I plan to take a few more with Straigterline .
Since Im not in a huge hurry, and enjoy taking online classes, I intend to get most of my credits this route. Not ruling out a few CLEPs
My question. Do I need to enroll right away with the school that I intend to receive my degree ? Can I just accumulate credits from various places, and transfer later ? I see that TESC charges a pretty hefty fee for credit banking.
Would paying the 75.00 registration fee allow me to transfer in credits as I receive them ?
Thanks in advance for the help,
Burt

I would say just keep collecting all your credits until you are ready to enroll. That is what I am doing. I am not sure about the 75.00 registration fee but I am pretty sure if you want them to keep your credits you will need to have a credit bank or enroll with them. I know if you send them your CLEP testing results they will keep them on file for 6 months no charge.

Or, you could apply, get the unofficial evaluation done, and then take credits accordingly to fill in the gaps. May save you some money down the road...

Once you pay the 75 bucks for the eval, it lasts for 6 months. During that 6 months, you can have your test results sent to TESC and they will hold them for you. At the end of the 6 months, then you would either have to enroll or you'd lose the 75 bucks.
I don't think it's a bad deal as it would help give you guidance regarding which tests you need.

If you are enrolled at a CC they should keep all your credits on record then just send them to TESC within one year of when you want to graduate

Thanks for the help. It sounds as though I should just keep plugging away for now. Then after I obtain a few more credits, register to see exactly where I stand.
