It looks like the book I linked to in my original post was the REA one. I think I'll give that one a shot. Thanks everyone for suggestions/advice.
Need 6 SS credits, seeking opinions on which CLEP(s) to take, etc.

Don Chubo Wrote:Okay - I just took the practice test in the 2010 CLEP official Study Guide. Out of 69 questions, I got 44 right. That would mean a 64%, but the book says that wrong answers aren't penalized. Based on that, opinions on my chances to pass this test?Sounds like you are well on your way to a pass. I would take a glance at the questions that gave you trouble and concentrate your studies on the areas they cover - while not neglecting the other areas, naturally. It would be pretty cool if you could finish your degree with CLEPs & DSSTs. There are lots of us here all too willing to advise. ![]()

Ugh - got the REA book and took the 1st practice exam. Got 61/120 right for a score of 51. That would be a pass, but just barely. The Sociology stuff in particular was tough. Time to hit the book - good thing I have 3 weeks or so until the exam.

the main thing with sociology is knowing who thought of what (i.e. marx conflict theory) and which theory applies to certain situations. That's how I got sociology down pretty good.

Passed test today with a 63. I was very worried before finishing test and confirming - the actual test was very different from the material in the REA book, the Peterson's practice exams, and everything else I used for reference.....but a pass is a pass and I made it!
