Ontario Canada - Freebie Programs

A student from the province of Ontario in Canada informed me about a couple of freebies for Canadians, Domestic students in the Toronto area.

Ontario Enhancing Personal Support Worker Training
Program will train more PSWs in communities across the province, creating a stronger, more resilient health care system

"Through this investment, for eligible students who enrol between June 1 and September 30, 2022, financial support of up to $13,690 will be available to cover the costs of tuition, books and other mandatory fees, as well as a stipend for a clinical work placement."

George Brown College is now offering a fully funded Early Childhood Education (Compressed) program for a limited time. If you are ready to put your passion for children to work and want to take advantage of this limited-time tuition-free program, apply now and start in July 2022.

As i understand Education for Canadians are very cheap or almost free. They charge international students very high rates to cover the cost of education for local students.

It's cheap, but not so very cheap. University tuition in Ontario is average $7500 a year. Community College - half that. There's a pretty good grant system to reduce what you have to pay (for Canadian students only.) And yes - International Students pay about 2 1/2 times what Canadian students do. 

These two courses - PSW and ECE are for Canadian students only. We have a previous thread on these very same "free" courses. These two prepare people for jobs with low pay and tough working conditions. They're of little or no interest to anyone in US.

Higher ed. in the Province of Quebec is about half of what it is in other provinces. There's a historical reason. When the Church relinquished control of Higher ed. to the Province, they did so on the condition that student fees be kept as low as possible, as they had been up to that point. The Province agreed and kept its word, as current conditions reflect. 

Consequently, the number of American students enrolled in Quebec Universities has gone up by 50% over the past few years. American students find they can complete a four-year degree for the typical tuition cost of one year in the US. 

I'm a late bloomer. I went to college first and later, university in my early 40s (at night) retired from work at 50 and kept going to school p/t until 62. I'm 79 now and I've done numerous courses in the private sector since that time. Still at it. Just finished one. (Fashion Design). I can say without hesitation - Colleges and Universities here are good places to learn. Some very good. Some outstanding.
