Passed CLEP Financial Accounting - Time for Managerial Accounting (Uexcel)
#21
It depends, Are you currently enrolled at the school or hoping to transfer in at some point in the future. If your degree is in accounting they may require additional credits, a lot of schools that I have read their CLEP policy don't take the accounting CLEP but if yours does and you are already enrolled you should have no problem, some catalogs are out of date, Excelsior has a 2013 catalog online which means that some credits are now lower level via ACE or have been eliminated altogether but the website hasn't been updated yet.

I'm already enrolled at the school and have been since 2013. I CLEPed out of 15 hours and need 6 more to graduate on time in May. I failed 9 hours so that is why I am late in the semester trying to get the 6 hours. My graduation is suppose to be May 9. So, do you think that since my school said I would get 6 hours that I still will?

Oh, and my degree is not in accounting. I am paralegal studies/pre law and have already been accepted into law school for the fall so I am frantic about graduating on time. I could take summer classes and still go to law school in the fall, but I really want the summer off before I do that and save that money.

The reason I need the accounting is because I thought it was worth 6 hours. I can only take the following: chemistry, a foreign language, or accounting and get enough hours from one test. Plus, I've pretty much taken all the rest either by clep or in class. I have never had a chemistry class (as biology was my core science), and I don't have an idea about foreign language. I figured accounting was my best shot.

Have you scheduled the test yet? Do it as soon as possible that way you know were you stand.

Yeah. I mean, I have to fill out a form and send it to Registrar to have it approved so I can get credit. Once it is approved, I can schedule to take it any day within 30 days or the approval expires. I was planning to take it next week.

When they emailed me the scanned copy of the signed approval, they said that I would need a 50 to get the total 6 credit hours for both accounting classes. Does that mean they have to honor their word even if the test changed to only 3 credit hours?

You would have to debate it with them but once they accept it and confer your degree there usually isn't any going back on it. Just focus on passing the test with a decent score, 50 is a pass, what does your college published CLEP policy say? If its only worth 3 credits and they give you six that's up to them, https://clep.collegeboard.org/exam/financial-accounting
The college board who organize the test say its equal to one semester. One semester is usually 3 credits, can you find another exam that will fit into your degree just in case it doesn't work out for 6. At my college its only worth 3 http://documents.excelsior.edu/document/...m-catalog/ pg. 26

This is what my schools says: CLEP | Academic Computing | Mississippi College

It does talk about how credit is subject to change and you have to check with school and get approval. However, I got approval and they said 6 hours. Plus, the academic catalog has been updated to this year and it still says 6 for both accounting classes. However, they may not know that Collegeboard has changed.

Looks like you can get the six credits so! You can take the CLEP test at any test center. Did you pay Missi the $50 already?

You could take the test at Jackson State and have it transcribed to your school probably for less money https://clep.collegeboard.org/test-cente...posed_form
