Freaking out about CLEP college comp mod!
#1
Hello friends ! Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am having panic attacks over citing my essays on the college comp essay. In high school and some college classes I have taken in the past I used online works cited generators . Does anyone know of a good website that I could brush up on my MLA formatting so I won't sink when I take my test. Thanks in advance!!!

For the essays, you will will not be required to use the MLA format, or any other specific format, for that matter. You will simply need to incorporate what material is provided into your essay in a casual and fluid way. Here is an example:

If this is the provided material:

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice, pg. 28

Your essay might look like this:

..... On the twenty-eighth page of her book "Pride and Prejudice," Jane Austen eloquently stated, "I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.” This obviously shows that......

I also do not remember any question in the multiple-choice section requesting me to identify which specific style of citation was being used. However, here is a site on styles of citation you may find helpful. Smile Good luck on your exam!!

Lady Grace is accurate. The essay is to show that you know how to write, and that you know how to incorporate the ideas of others without plagiarizing (spelling?). NO special form of citation is needed. It just has to be clear that you are attributing the work, and done in such a way that a reader could subsequently view the original source. I don't know how quickly your write, but, if you're going to stress over anything, I'd suggest stressing over that!
